If someone wouldn’t mind taking a photo of their transmission where it bolts to the transfer case I would appreciate it. I wouldn’t think they would be that stupid to install the bolts incorrectly but then again they didn’t even tighten one.

Good news, there’s legit supposed to be a bolt there.

Man makes you wonder, why some just can't do a proper job. Wouldn't you double check everything torquing all the bolts and visually inspecting

You would think so. But sadly quality in everything is going to hell. People just don’t care anymore. Most would have never double checked the mechanics work the bolt woulda fell out and it would’ve probably driven fine for 100,000 miles. I just assume people will screw up (bad attitude I know) and double check everything people work on. I called got the torque spec tightened it and drove right back to the dealership made them put it on the lift and check everything with me watching including the level. With it up to temp one drop came out and I was like “it’s low too”. So add fluid. It’s maddening how little people actually care about their work. I’m sure the mechanic won’t even be reprimanded. Participation trophy generation.

Because they can’t trust their idiot mechanics to obviously even tighten all the bolts on a simple swap. I shudder to think of what the morons would do if they tore into something complicated.

Is it just loose or cross threaded so it cant be tightened anymore? I would call the dealer and have them send a tow truck.

It was just loose. I backed it all the way out called them got the torque spec torqued it and drove it in and had them put it on the hoist and check everything over in front of me. Not really sure what else I could do. They owned up to it and the truck has their dealerships powertrain warranty to 150k miles.

    Hey everyone,
It’s been a while since the last post but I wanted to share my issue here as well and hope I find an answer.
My 2012 Tundra has 435k miles, it’s been really good to me up until now. Second time happening when got stuck on 4th. Tried it on sport mode, still not shifting to 5th and 6th. It downshifts fine, no problem. The only way to get it temporary fixed is to pull over and shut off the engine and turn it back on, then everything is fine. I hope it’s not the transmission since it doesn’t throw any error code. Could be low level transmission oil since it’s been a while since I haven’t changed it?
    Thanks for any inputs!

Are there any pending codes? Mine never threw a code but had pending codes.

I have to take it in, last time was about a year ago and didn’t have any. I still suspect low level of oil though. That’s my next challenge, a full flush.

Low fluid or likely a shift solenoid.

Yeah. I’ll start flushing the fluid this weekend and hope that does it. What’s a good obd reader that reads the atf temp?
    Thanks for the advice!
