AR all the way. I was actually researching building my own for the first time last night. So overwhelming how many options there are I can't figure out where to start. Ha

A 6920 is a solid choice. Right now you can find them for $750 or so and that will honestly be tough to beat value and quality wise. Most rifles that match the Colt specs are still $1k+ rifles. Such as a basic BCM, Daniel Defense, LMT, FNH, S&W (not the sport models) etc.

For rails you can go with a Knight’s RAS or a P&S RAS (P&S builds rails for the US military like Knight's does, there are multiple suppliers of that rail).

I bought a complete 6920 upper and slapped a Knight’s RAS on and used a stripped S&W lower with BCM lower parts.

If you want to look at nicer rails and hand guards, check out BCM, Centurion, Daniel Defense, Geissele, Midwest Industries, Samson, Fortis, etc.

Tons of rails on the market these days.

No problem. I’m tempted to get in on one of those $750 Colts right now as well.

You know what’s better than a BCM 11.5” pistol? A BCM 11.5” SBR.

Thanks. I actually wanted a Colt 6933 11.5” Commando originally. But the BCM was easier for my dealer to get. Still was an 11 month total wait. But when you own multiple rifles that doesn’t bother you as much.

I agree. Hard to beat a colt 6920 without furniture and outfit how one likes.

Personally, I like a weapon that will go bang, every time, for thousands of rounds, no proprietary parts, MIL spec and is rather accurate if I do my part.

Put the rail system, stock, optics, and swap out the trigger...you have a nice weapon. That’s what I did before my horrific boating accident and lost my AR. I just couldn’t swim with 7.5 lbs.
