They landed - but can’t confirm actual correct parts in the boxes just yet. I’m out west exploring the Mighty Five.

Are you currently at a point of man do I do the Canbus reader headache to get a point to hook up my running lights that turn on with my running light? or maybe I can find a fuse somewhere to hook up those marker lights? But I also don't want to do an add a fuse and have a hole in my fuse cover. After getting creative I came up with a way to not tap into factory wiring without using T-taps or splices (which typically won't work with the Canbus stuff anyway) and also made it easily reversible and not cost a whole bunch of money....if that's what you're after consider reading the following. The install was for a 2023 Platinum. The light bulb moment was hell the canbus can't talk to the trailer wiring because trailers aren't that smart, so it has to be traditional relay for running lights (it is the way it is).

I used the trimmed down connectors mentioned earlier in this thread to connect the actual lights, so I won't mention that.

I essentially wired them in as Trailer lights through an add on 4-way trailer wiring harness adapter. Bonus would be if you want to add anything like back up lights or additional turn signals you can use this to do so. It took fooooooorever to run the wiring cleanly (also really like this truck and I was determined to not do my typical temporary good enough install that I'll clean up later and never actually do). All in all though it is a super clean install that I think a technician would have to really look to notice anything out of place. I wrapped everything in lomb, used the cut down ABS wheel speed connectors, marine heat shrinked everything, and added a waterproof 2 prong connector incase I have to remove the flares in the future. Including wiring, lomb, and connectors I was in at about $100.00 for material, but also have about $40.00 in extra material left over I can use on future wiring projects, so depending what you have laying around could be cheaper. Used 16ga wire for all my runs.

Bought this Curt Part#55384 to add an additional 4-way connector. It Installs between the OEM trailer plug connector and adds an additional 4-way. Confirmed the part number on Curts website before ordering and well its actually installed and working, so for sure I know it works. Plugged in very soild with o-rings and seems like it is well made with heavy gage wire where it matters. Ran the 4-way pig tail to the Passenger side frame rail near the top of the spare tire to tuck the 4-way up out and out of the way. Hook your running lights positive to Brown and negative to white and bobs your uncle. I think the led's pull like 0.4 or 0.7 watts/ea so wasn't worried about adding a hole 1.6-2.8watts at about 0.13-0.23 amps total for all 4 running lights.

Bought one of these (you could skip this and just cut the wires on the Curt harness but hell for $2.00 why not eh??

Essentially all I did was wire the running lights as if it was a trailer and it is no different than plugging in 4-way trailer so it would be a pretty hard argument if I ever have warranty issues. No splicing into factory wiring and all you would have to do is unplug the Curt Adapter and its back to factory.

Just heard back from Sparks, they are shipping my order this week! Really excited to get my parts! Ok everyone, I’ve been following this thread forever but now finally I’m joining the club!

What’s the latest advice about what I should buy to get the lights shining bright? Any other Toyota part numbers or Amazon parts I should order today? I even thought about just installing the trim without lights but they would be too tragic! Thanks so much!

Having just completed the wiring yesterday and I read this thread like 5 times and I basically I came to the conclusion that you have to
1.Get the pre-pinned connectors that you have to shave down to provide a way to power the lights (after the first one it goes fairly quickly with a Dremel)
    2. Then find somewhere to tap into for a 12v source that comes on with the lights which can be challenging if you have the fancy headlights with the canbus.
    3. Didn't ever see this mentioned but there is a hole to run the wires through behind the stock flares FYI.
4.Run Wiring to all your lights (highly suggest installing water proof connector at each light to allow you to remove the lights in the future if needed

It was time consuming to run all the wires to the lights and the whole time I was doing it I was questing if it was worth it...in the end I am very happy with the result and it was worth it. Right above your post I just posted what I did to tap into the trailer lights. Overall though for about $35.00 you get a 12v tap that comes on with running lights and you don't have to tap or cut into any factory wiring, so I considered that money will spent. Thats my take.

Was able to find these in stock at McGeorge Toyota. $66 each. $53 shipping which is a bit high but given the size I'm ok with that.

Let's see how quick they ship....

@556 TTT, what lights do you stick in there? Do you have a part number or any details on them?

I bought it in AutoZone, screwed it with an aluminum strip and installed it in a spoiler. Everything is very easy and fast.

Sorry not quite understanding. How is the aluminum strip attached? Is that screwed in as well?

The camouflage spoiler has two marker lights attachment points. Just need to screw the aluminum strip.

Correct when the lights are on and not on when the lights aren't on. To be specific when the parking lights are turned on they come on.

I do not...I'm terrible about taking photos as I go...just get too damn focused at the task at hand. I ran one set of wires from driver rear. One from passenger rear, then ran one to front of vehicle. I spliced the three sets of wires using a heat shrink crimp connector to the trailer plug. Twisted driver rear with brown and white on trailer plug in one end then twisted the other two wires together and crimped on the other end. Put the heat gun to it, put lomb on it, then wapped it in electrical tape and zip tied it to the harness on top of the passenger side frame rail near the rear bumper. The front I ran to passenger side first then similar connection and over to drivers side running it along radiator core support wiring. Sorry for the long description and I always wish I took pictures and say I'll do it next time but never do. I will note this took me a long time to make it clean but there is plenty of wiring harness to follow on the passenger side.

TRD Pro flares shipped yesterday and are arriving today. They actually ship from Revolution Parts, which appears to be an OEM parts wholesaler.

Looks sweet! The Pro flares look to give just the right amount of coverage and a bit more of an off-road look.
I’m looking forward to installing the flares. Also a set of REK GEN flaps going on at the same time.
