Ordered TRD Pro suspension couple of weeks ago, should be arriving today or tomorrow. Wondering how much I should expect to spend at independent shop to get them installed??

I found a thread here from 2017 and it was appx $500 on the high side, that included alignment; time to install was 4-5 hours as this is OEM product.

Is all of that still accurate today? or have rates gone up since that post in 2017?

My hope is to stay between $400 - $500 total.

Should take no more than 2hrs to install (without alignment). I'd expect $200-300 for labor plus $100, so you are about right for what you want to spend. Call around.

My quote from independent shop was $1,000, was hoping for 600. Toyota was 1,200. - both said 6hr job.

Tried to DIY and broke a control arm. So it was 1,200 plus the tow, plus the control arm.

Best bet is to call your own actual local places. someone may quote you their mechanic that's a tree shade mechanic at a super low price. next guy may quote you from his privately owned shop that is expensive. around me, ballpark would be about $125/hour. but lots has changed in 5 years

I bought Falcons. Happy with the upgrade. Went with Toyota, but the local shop was 200 less. I figured 200 in savings wasn't worth someone without a brand backing up their work going in and doing it.

My DIY attempt was awful. I'll never attempt to load springs again.

I paid 400 for the assembled front shocks & TRD sway on my Sequoia. The back is super easy on a Tundra, I did all of it myself on my Tundra.

I did my entire Jeep suspension lift, but the shocks were preloaded with the springs.

    Tundra kicked my butt.

When you said independent shop, thats what i referenced. prices at the dealer will be higher generally. but including your price, shop location, and estimated hours/work to be done will help others as well that know how the search function works ( a rare occurrence if we're being honest)

I tend to agree but the dealer near me is incredibly expensive. Have not got a quote for this exact work but other work is ridiculously I priced

It’s been along time since I’ve worked on vehicles so I guess just apprehensive based on my skill set currently. From what I can tell it’s four bolts on each side on the front and two on each side on the back.

And I’m sure you’ll laugh at this, I don’t have any instructions to know how to do it. I checked the DIY manuals here but didn’t see anything but I could’ve missed it

Well, you've got your UCA that you'll have to remove from your spindle, 4 bolts at the top of your factory coilovers, 1 bolt at the bottom of the LCA, use a 2x4 and push down the LCA to get the coilover out. If the TRD shocks you have are pre-assembled, then you can go ahead and it'll just be plug and play.

Install the coilovers, get the LCA bolt through the bottom of the coilover, bolt up the 4 top to shock mount, then re-install UCA. Torque to spec and you're done!

Everything comes pre-assembled on this one. So I’ll have two pieces in the front two pieces in the back ready to bolt.

    i’ll check out the video.

    would be awesome to do

I installed my coil overs with a friend's help and I am pretty much a mechanical rookie. It wasn't terrible and there are plenty of good youtube videos and threads here on the forum to help. I did not disconnect my UCA, but did the LCA instead. It made getting things in and out pretty easy and didn't have to worry about supporting the wheel/brakes while doing it.

    I found this thread helpful

I charge $400 if everything is already assembled. I don't do alignments, so that would be farmed out or done on your own. But like JonClark said, it is pretty easy to do with help. Believe it or not, the rears are a pain if you don't have the right tools, lol. Main thing to remember is on the front, make sure to remove the sway bar completely and it will be a lot easier

Fronts probably took 4-5 hours once we got started. Again, I am a rookie at things. The rear took me a lot longer, as i was swapping out shackles as well and both sides were ceased up and took a lot of beating and banging. I could have had the rear done in less than an hour if all i was doing was swapping the shocks.

I will try to find it, but I was able to find the Toyota service instructions online for installing the TRD suspension and that is what I used during my install. It was really helpful, as it had all the torque specs included.

Yup. What he ^^^ said. I just did all 4 corners in my driveway. Had preassembled coilovers (genuine Toyota TRD Off Road) for the front. Had a buddy help. We were maybe 4 hours all in from setting out tools to hands washed and maintenance log updated. I had copies of all the factory service manual exploded diagrams with the torques ready to go.
