I’ve run TRD, 8 inch BaMuffler (DD) and currently run 12 inch BaMuffler (DD). The 12 is my absolute favorite.

That’s the one I’m looking at now for my 2021 CM. How quiet is it? Drone etc?

Wait, which one are you running exactly? Keith’s 12” TRD version or just the 12” non TRD version? Too many choices! LOL

Use headphones. This guy has a quality audio set up that even makes the stock exhaust sound good, but then he hooks up the Dirtydeeds... I bought one during a sale after seeing this video. If nothing else, talk to Keith. He's got tons of good info and is genuinely interested in making sure you get what you want for your truck.

I'm running the standard single outlet 12 inch version - not the dual TRD replacement.

My take on the standard 12 inch (assuming you use the tailpipe resonator)....

Interior sound is more than OEM but less than TRD. It has a pleasant deep tone with a tempered growl when accelerating, but shuts off under no/light throttle. Steady highway cruise is quiet too.

Exterior sound is actually a little more aggressive sounding than TRD, but still very classy. The TRD is very bass-y and burbly sounding so it's not real loud - it's all deep tones. The 12 is deep, but has some deeper mid tones (if that makes sense) compared to the TRD, so it actually has more volume than TRD on the outside.

I traded the 8 for the 12 because the 8 had a little bit of pop/rasp under heavy throttle. The 12 has none of that. Just a clean deep sound.

I have TRD dual exhaust. I am happy with it, love the sound, nice deep tone. I don't experience any annoying drone or "helicopter" sound but like someone else said, it's highly subjective. And no complaints from my wife/passengers even on long distance trips. On the flip side, I have also seen some people say that the DD exhaust is "too loud or raspy" for them (again it's highly subjective)

Bottom line... TRD and DD are both great exhaust for Tundras.

Thanks for the comments. Do you tow anything? If so, how's the sound inside while towing and under load on the highway? Still no drone?

I used to tow my Corvette to the race track about 1.5 hours away. I would be lying if I said it was not louder inside while under load on the highway. It is louder than normal driving but no where near annoying or unbearable. It's to be expected. Even with stock exhaust some people say they experience drone.

The dual does cause some loss; that's why our standard systems are so popular, all gains and a fraction of the cost of a TRD rep. Here's some great info to compare the various systems we offer. As always, I recommend talking to Keith directly as he can get you exactly what you want for your truck. Not to mention, we can do payment plans (no extra cost), whatever it takes to get you the truck you ACTUALLY want!!!!!

I added a few extra attachments incase anyone is looking at other upgrades.

My TRD system did that and I added a h-pipe which seems to have eliminated it although I haven't driven it enough to confirm. I would either go with Corsa or Borla if I was to do it all over again.

    Pros, Great exhaust note
Cons, If you live in the rust belt it is made out of very low grade stainless and it will rust like mad.

When mine fails, I will buy a Borla.

The TRD exhaust is butter. I've listened to lots of exhaust systems and haven't heard one that sounds better. Deep and throaty rumble on start up, but won't make your neighbors start checking Remington ammo stock. Your truck will never be mistaken for a V6. No drone in these ears (passed a recent hearing test with flying colors). And, if you hammer the exhaust, you will hear a 5.7 symphony.

    YMMV

No joke- I have that video as one of my favorites on YouTube and listen to it every now and then before I roll over and go to sleep. That's how much I love the TRD exhaust.

I agree with you here, I put the black chrome tip TRD dual exhaust on my 2020 about 1 month ago now and have not felt any meaningful low end torque loss. It sounds great and seems to have improved in tone with the more miles I put on it. It's aggressive enough to put a smile on my face without my fiance complaining that it's obnoxious.

I really appreciate all the comments and advice. It's clear I still have a lot to learn about Tundra exhaust systems, but I now know a very respected contact with DD and many options I never knew about...or even considered before. Given all this new information and my low spot on the learning curve, I think I'll put the exhaust mod. on the back burner for now and move on to something different as I learn more.
    Many Thanks again!

The FALLDEPOSIT is the current coupon code showing on the website. Is that sale still going on or is that a misprint?

This is my 2nd tundra with the trd exhaust.
I like it. I like it more after a year and it starts to burn in. Then the take offs sound amazing. Esp at 5am when I hit the highway on my way to work. It’s my favorite part of the morning.

Yes. Two part numbers and you need both. Total retail is about $1100.

Yes, you need both parts. One part number is the muffler section and the second is the tail pipe assembly.

    Well,
I got sent to time out for a few days over a silly political picture I posted. Sorry if I offended anyone as it certainly was not my intent - but I know rules are rules.

As an update, I installed the TRD Pro dual exhaust. At the end of the day, I still wanted to remain OEM so I went the TRD route. However, I'm sure a DD exhaust system would have worked just as well.

The sound is about just right for me:
