In the day when they were using Plymouth Volares and Dodge Aspens as police cars, you would see the front end of a Aspen on a Volare and vise versa. It was funny but only a car person would realize it.

For those that have mentioned grills and sway bars...
I’m not talking about improving your vehicle with TRD parts you prefer, but rather badging specifically.

This came to mind because I want to put something on my bed rack where I removed the cheap tin “Defender” plaque. In looking at emblems, I came across a black TRD emblem that would fit and look nice...but since I can’t lie, it was causing inner turmoil. My truck isn’t a TRD Off-road or TRD PRO. It’s nothing special at all. I don’t want to misrepresent myself.

Didn’t see it myself, but he told me about it. He was dead serious. They fixed it for him the next day, but he was thinking it had to have been on purpose.

I am for sure, but not that kind.

Waylon Jennings said it best. “I’ve always been crazy, but it’s kept me from going insane.”

Like most have said, it's your own truck, so you can do what you want with it. I personally would never put a TRD badge or sticker on a non-TRD truck, but I would certainly add TRD parts to one without hesitation.

But I do love seeing the guys in the Poser Pros when I'm in my Pro. They rearely make eye contact.

I have a TRD Offroad and powder coated the wheels. I also put TRD center caps on them as I'm on a quest to remove all chrome. I guess mine ends up looking like a "poser pro" in that sense because the wheels are now the same as the 2017-era Pros. It don't make a shit to me because I'm only going for the look I want, not trying to turn my truck into a Pro.

Putting TRD PRO pieces on is ok. Putting TRD badging is ok. Putting TRD PRO badging on is not ok.

    I was leaning towards this...

    34B96450-D9F3-48A5-B5D8-1F087CF44B58.jpg

    Or maybe this...59598039-A192-429E-9F9C-4B2C377528F3.jpg

But I may just end up with this...

    DF898890-616F-4278-8AF9-FBEFF256EAA5.jpg

Or I might just find something completely unrelated to go in the small square on the back of this rack.

Those are perfectly fine. TRD is Toyota Racing Development. It’s aftermarket parts for all Toyotas not just for TRD Pros.

    Exactly right.

Think of it as free advertising for Toyota, @AlmightyCrash. All over town, guys will be seeing your bedrack and going to their Toyota dealer to buy one. Think of the poor counter guy trying to explain to these guys that Toyota DOESN'T MAKE a TRD bedrack. Then, next year or so, because they've had so many requests for TRD bedracks, what do you think the marketing guys will do?...That's right!...Genuine TRD bedracks direct from your Toyota dealer. :D

Edit: Maybe they do make one already...shows how close I follow this TRD stuff.

Going "pro" badging on a non-pro.....no fun IMO. But TRD is a much different thing. That said, i hate badging, but I do run a TRD Pro front grill. But I also keep wanting to take it off cause they are everywhere, lol

I’ve heavily considered putting Texas Edition badges in mine. They’re pretty dope.

In each case, if it's a specific designated Toyota option, it will show that and any other options. If it is a port-installed special package, it won't show on the data base.

Yes, you can get everything from the VIN. (Factory installed of course)
Even down to brand of tires OEM, how many USB ports etc....

So, anyone buying a truck with TRD stickers can go verify it.

+1 I’ll put on parts but not stickers, however if anyone wants to do that, their choice, no qualms here. You do your truck the way you like.

Years ago I spotted a Lexus I had never seen before. As I pulled along side it, I noticed that it was in fact a Hyundai that somebody rebadged as a Lexus. And this was around 2000, when Hyundai's were true POS's.

I bought my 2WD SR5? (I think) off a dealers used CPO inventory. PO had put the 4x4 emblem on the tailgate! For some people the badge is what really counts. Personally I am a debadger, and will remove any emblems I can. I'd rather have TRD Pro (or better) suspension/parts, and not have anyone be able to tell.

    I agree with this statement.
I was driving to work one day and saw a tundra with a TRD PRO decal that was clearly not a PRO :eek2: that was terrible
In my opinion it was gawd awful, but am I going to lose sleep over someone else’s preferences, not at all. If you like it then go for it  I’ve got a bunch of stuff on my truck that I’m sure people dislike. They can all kiss my ass :D
