Just scheduled my install appointment for next Thursday. My dealership matched an online price and is charging me for 12 hours of labor. I will be at $4205.00 for parts and install. They got the spring compressor in last week and two kits showed up yesterday.

12 hours? Damn I got shafted at 10. Kinda guessed. Toyota didn’t publish the labor time at that point. Guess I should check tomorrow

That’s disappointing…I am in no way a hardcore off-roader but I take lots of fire roads to get to some of my preferred recreational activities.

Not saying it’s a given. But just based off my experience with shocks with this size body

I don’t know if this has already been asked & answered, so apologies if it has, but why would they need to remove the OEM fog lights? Would the lights be too high and affect oncoming drivers?

Saw this at a dealership here in Indiana today. Seems crazy high to me, but I haven’t been following how much Toyota has been charging for this install.

Pretty much…some states have laws on how they should be aimed and to the best of my knowledge they aren’t adjustable so dealers in those states delete them.

One factor in the price is the TSS feature realignment that I was just told is 8 hours.

Pretty much, it's a law in various states as to height and in the instructions to install the TRD Lift there is Step 5 to remove fog lights to meet this law in certain states.
Which states you may ask, reference this thread:

Price is high, but I would rather take this Trd lift than some stupid ceramic coating, GPS tracker and rims that my nearby dealer includes for a 10k above msrp markup.

It appears that adding this Trd lift would cost at a minimum 2.5k parts and another $3-4k Labor

So the actual truck sells for about 6k above msrp markup which may be negotiable down to 3k and is not such a bad deal..

I’m debating between the TRD lift ($2500 parts and 2-3k+ install?) and the Icon stage 3 (1700 parts, unknown install price but probably a lot less). I like that I can keep my TRD skid plate with the Icon. I don’t want a service manager telling me that I have to remove my foglights. I like that the height of the lift is variable with the Icon, I think that it’s 1.5-2.25”, I find that nicer than the 3”+, to my eyes.

With that said, I think that for the money, the TRD lift is probably way more bang for the buck. Also it has the Totota warranty (if the dealership will play ball with me bringing parts). I also think that the TRD lift looks amazing, but the install (price and time) is daunting. I’d be grateful if you’d talk me through re: which way to go, thank you in advance for your advice

I am picking mine up from a dealership in a different city on Friday. My local dealership would not honor my warranty or warranty the TOYOTA lift since I had it shipped to me from a different dealership. I’m told by the service manager that it rides and handles great. I can update more after Friday if you’d like.
I paid approx 2500 including freight from east coast to west coast. Dealership I found that would work with me quoted 1600 for labor even if they go over since this is their first one. They will also maintain my factory warranty as well as the trd lift kit parts. I’m pretty happy with everything so far, just waiting to pick it up now. I’d say go for it.

I’m really looking forward to following along with your TRD Lift Kit Snipdingle thanks so much for posting! I think you got a great deal at 2500 including shipping. Also, you negotiated an incredible price at 1600 for install including factory and lift warranty! Awesome work! Will they let you retain your foglights, and can the TRD skid plate be retained (if you run one!).

If you don’t mind I’d love to know who you worked with for your parts purchase, and any tips for working with the dealership would also be really appreciated. Pls send pics throughout! Before and after pics, and if the dealer can take pics during install that would also be really helpful. Super excited for you!

Also SD, I think we have a very similar truck. I also drive a Limited CM Army Green 6.5 bed. What size tires are you running? I’m on 285/65R20. This is awesome. Thanks and great work!!!

I’m not sure if you’ve all seen this video, I thought it was one of the most detailed I’ve seen so far of the TRD lift kit install.

the installation is complete but if they took any progression pics I will share them. I THINK I still have fog lights and I’m not sure about the skid plate yet. If it interferes I will create a drop mount for it I’m sure. If you want to PM me I will share the details of who I’ve been working with. I’m in Oregon for what it’s worth. My only tip about working with the service manager was he underquoted me initially and I told him I didn’t want him to come up short and have a surprise expense at the end. He appreciated me being upfront and we both agreed this is a learning opportunity for his dealership and I was super easy about how long they would need to keep it. We had a good rapport so that helped quite a bit and he suggested, not me, that if they went over the 20 hrs then he would eat it. He is also cheating me accessory installation rate rather than straight shop time which is a large difference.

I have 285/70/17 bfg ko2 on RRh7 wheels with zero offset. They poke out a bit which I prefer. I had a 2021 tundra that was wrecked but bolt pattern changed from 2021 to 2022 model year so I got new wheels and kept the tires from my other truck. I rubbed slightly at full lock but not enough to make me trim. My tolerance may differ from other people but I have 3 vehicles with slight rub. Doesn’t bother me. With the TRD lift I hope I get rid of the rub though.

At first, when you said "Seems crazy high to me", I thought you were referring to the lift height.

Yes, that lift is way overpriced. Someone will pay it because they don't know any better. However, if I was going to spend $12k for a suspension, wheels, and tires...I would be rocking a MUCH different setup than that. The person who buys that truck wants a pavement princess to throw his golf clubs in and talk a big game to his buddies on the weekends.

Also...I'll admit this is my off road enthusiast coming out...but seems like a waste to install that on a non-TRD OR model. You've got a decent suspension (albeit way overpriced) but you lack all of the off road drive modes, crawl control, and rear locker. All of the goodies that are great when hitting the trails. Again...dumb. My 2 cents.

    Oh well.

SD this is awesome. Congratulations on your completed installation! I'm looking forward to learning about your fog lights and skidplate. If you still have your lights and the plate fits that will be perfect, if not I know a lot of us will be happy to see your drop mount. I am going to follow your lead and reach out to my local dealerships asking them whether they'll install with warranty if I bring my own parts, and negotiate re: how many installation hours and a max ceiling. TBH I'm hoping to make a deal for a similar max # of hours at accessory installation rate. How many days did your dealership take to do the install? Can't wait for your driving impressions and pics

Wow…so they measured like nearly 4.5” on this lift when paired with a ~35” tire

    Substantial indeed

Screen shot of Toyota of Cedar Park on site "Accessories shopping screen", TRD Suspension Lift kit & installation cost total $4735.00 (not including tax and no cost breakdown, i.e.; parts / labor). Under warranty if bought and installed there.

drove it home over the mountains today. Handles way better than before. I have trd OR btw. I’m very happy with the lift, no rub at all. Dealership came in at $1200 for installation. I got the kit from sparks at way below msrp so all in I am very happy at about 3700. I get to keep my fog lights and all the safety features that may have been affected if I installed my one bilstein kit or something along those lines. That’s what I usually do, 6112’s and new springs.

The ride is firm on the road and handles corners at speed with a lot more confidence. I understand people saying this is overpriced but for me, this was money well spent and I didn’t have to do the labor myself this time. Plus they gave my dirty ass truck a hand wash and light detail, recalibrated my stuff including backup camera and came in $400 less than quoted labor. Too bad this dealership is not in my city, they’ve earned my business.

Wait am I missing something here, the factory trd lift doesn’t allow you to use the factor installed Trd skid plate? Seems like that should have been taken into consideration.
    Any way around this?

Thank you for your report SD! This is incredible. The way you handled your purchase and installation is an inspiration and a model I’d like to follow if I can!

AWESOME you kept your fog lights! Does the TRD skidplate fit? Your description of the ride quality is very reassuring and sounds perfect. 1200 for installation is so, so good. 3700 installed out the door is fantastic.

If I can find a dealership to install parts I bring with warranty and letting me keep fog lights and TRD skid I’m in with no hesitations. Can you post a lot of pics of your truck (from different angles?), I can’t wait to see the height. Congrats again!!

I was just at the dealership yesterday talking with them about the TRD lift again. I'm in search of EXACTLY how high the truck will be at the fin once the kit is installed. I only have a 81" of garage opening, can you please tell me if it fits in your garage and how much clearance do you have. Measure your garage opening minus the distance between the fin and the garage opening and this will tell us the overall height of the truck at the fin. Appreciate the effort as I really really want this, but if the truck can't fit in the garage this is a no go for me.

I’m in the same boat with garage clearance thanks for asking this TT. Already getting kind of close to the bed “antenna” cameras when I back up. On 285/65/20. It’s going to be a close one with the lift but might work. Also wondering if I can possibly raise the garage door higher to the ceiling if needed but probably a big job
