Not sure if this has been discussed before or not, sorry if it has. I'm contemplating on whether to get the TRD dual exhaust or not. I love the way it looks, and the way it sounds, but not sure if I'd like it after driving with it allll day. I'd like some of your feedback and opinions on it. Do you have it? Does it bother you after long trips?

Great thing about this exhaust for me is if you want to hear it you can put your foot down and you'll get the desired effect. If you don't want to just cruise around and it's no big deal. The perfect exhaust imo.

I'd say go for it. I don't find it to drone. Pretty quiet cruising in the highway and around town.

My last truck had very loud exhaust systems. 5.3L Chevy with 4 spd trans, 18" muffler out in front of the rear tire. The thing screamed.

TRD Pro exhaust is quiet in comparison.

I like the way it sounds, but don’t have it on my truck so I can’t recommend either way. I am going to buy an 8” from DD’s though.

My 2nd Tundra to have the TRD exhaust, I am a fan. Some folks say they have drone, I have never noticed any drone. My current tundra has the black chrome tips, a pain to keep clean IMO compared to the bright chrome, but they do look sharp.

If you have the money and want you keep all the engine stuff Toyota, for sure buy it. There are plenty of aftermarket options that costs less than the TRD exhaust if you want to venture outside of Toyota.

Disclaimer: I have the TRD exhaust and intake on my truck and am satisfied with both modifications.

Yeah I think I'm going to be a partial toward Toyota parts and will stick to the trd parts too.

My buddy has it, drones if you pull a trailer. He also said he can’t add shackles without some sort of modification (the fix might be on this forum, not sure). I do really like the sound and they look great blacked out.

I think he was looking at Toytec shackles and was told that. Dirtydeeds sells a reduced drone exhaust.

I also have coach builder shackles and TRD exhaust. If the coach builder fits so would any steel ones as they would be thinner

I also pull a 6000 lb trailer. No real drone but it is louder while towing.

I got the TRD duals when the getting was good back in April. They have mellowed with age - I don't notice any drone when on the highway, and I spent 4.5 hours from here to OBX this summer without any complaints. Growls when I punch it, so there's the smile factor. I hear great things from Dirty Deeds, but went the Toyota route because the price break was pretty good. +1 CB shackles with 5160's at the rear and no fitment issues. (If you do go the TRD route, purchase the extra hanger kit to replace the stock rubber bushing - it helps keep the pipes aligned when looking from the rear).

Purchased from dealer after I bought the truck. Installed and immediately removed the system. Couldn't stand the drone. I am going to take advantage of the Dirtydeeds group buy.

I have a dirty deeds 8" now. I had his 6" before but it was a little loud for me. The 8 is perfect and sounds similar to the TRD dual.
I agree with the others who recommend dirty deeds bamuffler.

The TRD duals tend to drone on the highway, especially when towing. Also you to not gain any power, in fact a few tests showed it actually lowers torque at normal operating RPMs. Also people have rust issues with the TRD systems, so if you do get one...paint it before you install it

No drone here, have hauled a few heavy loads but not towed a trailer, so maybe theres a difference there, not sure.

I really liked the sound under acceleration, but couldn’t stand the helicopter resonance when maintaining or lightly fluctuating speed in the 45 to 65 mph range. I ended up adding an H pipe and tailpipe resonators to quiet it down.

That's my only complaint and may add the H-pipe

I have a thread in the performance section about the changes I made. There are pictures and video on the 2nd page so you can hear what it sounds like with the H pipe.
