I sanded down the pipes and painted the whole system with VHT satin clear coat. Looks great and it's clear. Curing the VHT on-vehicle was a simple process.

Borla and forget it! Have the #140332 setup 304 stainless polished muffler and tips $950. TRD is nice, but the Borla sounds sweet, not obnoxious with no drone. Rust like the pictured TRD setup is a non issue. Plus replacement parts are available and don’t forget million mile warranty! Just my .02

After it's fully dried, 24 hours.
    10 minutes idle.
    20 minutes off.
    20 minutes idle.
    20 minutes off.
    30 minutes normal driving.

That's the directions VHT has on the can.

or get the engine enamel paint and call it a day. That paint can go to 500 degrees and mufflers get around 300-400 or so I believe.

Which brand would be the easiest to use? I'm thinking of using a clear coat just in case I mess up.

I just purchased the TRD Exhaust since they had it 40% on the 4/4 sale. I'm going to be installing it next weekend. Since it's in new condition it sounds like I should prep it now BEFORE the rust sets in?...question is living in AZ we don't have the same road conditions and weather as others. Should I be okay installing as-is since I live in the desert or am I still prone to the rust down the road? What would you guys recommend?

Arizona shouldn't be an issue - but it is pretty easy to coat it anyway before installation.

Can’t hurt to paint, and will be much easier off the car. Plus the black pipes look cool. Either way, enjoy the exhaust.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be coating them before installing.

Yes, you can use the same paint. I painted my tips semi-gloss though.

I got the black tip trd exhaust, and I painted the tailpipes and mufflers before install. Check out dirty deeds article on how to paint chrome tips.
    http://dirtydeedsindustries.com/articles/
I didn’t have to do the tips but I used the same process. It looks clean and matches everything in the undercarriage. I used 4 coats krylon
    https://m.lowes.com/pd/Krylon-High-...ay-Paint-Actual-Net-Contents-12-oz/1000248383
Just be aware that even after the baking process stated above the next time you drive your truck for longer than 30 minutes the paint will be smoking. After that burn in it shouldn’t smoke anymore.

My TRD sway bar is rusted badly... I thought by us buying TRD products, they would be of a little better quality.

This is what I used. Pretty good match to the OE black TRD tips. Three cans.

I installed my TRD exhaust tonight. It’s frustrating that the tips aren’t level. I was aware it was a problem and even put in a cardboard spacer to try to get the spacing the same for the tips.

I also replaced the rubber hanger on the passenger side. That didn’t work either. The driver’s side still sits up higher than the passenger side.

    Dumb.
