Anyone know if a 7 inch BDS lift will interfere with the install? Parking brake lines , etc, going to put mine on tonight when the sun goes down.

Which product does the heat shield and hangers come with for the TRD dual exhaust? The muffler section? Or the exhaust tips section?

Someone is going to sell me their muffler section that has never been installed and I want to make sure all the parts are there.

Heat Shield is for the muffler section.
Both muffler and dual tips section have hangers.

You don't really need the heatshield. So if it's not included, it's not a huge loss. The hanger is available separate for about $40.

Anyone get a little smoke coming out of their TRD exhaust after installing?

Yup had a pretty sized cloud of smoke roll out from under my truck on the interstate about 8 miles from the dealership, looked like I was driving down a dirt road for a few seconds then it went away, all was good. I figure it was a coating burning off to prohibit rust or some crap.

Dude, thanks so much for this. It really made things so simple.

Just installed this on my 2019 along with the intake. Sounds freaking amazing. I called toyota just to see and they quoted me 6 hours to install just the exhaust. Give me a break. It took me 3 hours on the dot and the intake took about 45 minutes.

As others have said, thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I used it this afternoon for reference while installing the dials. Made the install easy, even without a jack or lift.

Hello all. Need some help just to be certain.

I have been given the TRD Exhaust tail piles with chrome tips from my best bud. He tracks his S/C’d Tundra and had to remove the TRD pipes when he lowered his truck. He gave them to me!

Now I need the TRD muffler. I see that part number in this thread, will order this week. Next, I will also order a new hanger, just to be certain the TRD pipes hang exactly the same on both sides. Appears a new rubber hanger is around $40.

    Where I need help...

01| Do the new TRD exhaust gaskets ship with the TRD muffler or the TRD pipes? If it is with the muffler I do not to order separately.

02 | Does the heat shield ship with the TRD muffler or the TRD pipes?

03 | Any thing else recommended that I order, so it’s all done and once and the install goes smooth?

    Best,
    George

the parts box comes inside the tail pipe box. so, you will need to order the heat shield, gaskets, and hangers separately.

here are the part numbers for the gasket kit and the hanger kit:
    gasket kit: PTR03-34104
    hanger kit: PTR03-34103

However, I am not sure what the part number for the heat shield is.

That is everything that you need.

    good luck :)

Amazing install instructions and pictures!! I got the TRD cat back dual for my truck, and would you know that toyota "welded" the nuts by the cats. So of course they needed to be removed using a oxygen torch..naturally watching so many of these do it yourself videos on youtube no one speculated that they might be welded at the cats. I duno who did that or why, as i got the truck with 10k miles on it...anyone else have that issue??

Heat shield and gaskets for the muffler to tailpipes are included as well as hanger for the left side. What is NOT included is TRD gaskets from the catalytic to the muffler pipes. You can reuse those if your truck is fairly new. Also i went to toyota to get a new hanger for my original side muffler pipe due to the fact that it was stretched exponentially, so buying a new one helped the pipes sorta level out in back.

Can the bolts that connect the cats to the muffler section be bought from Toyota or just buy good stainless bolts? After 2 winters my bolts at the cats are so rusted they look like they're 20 years old already and im sure they will break off. Also for all of those in salt country, how does the TRD exhaust look after a good salty winter? From what ive seen the pipes rust like crazy ( not acceptable) for a $1300 exhaust compared to the stock single exhaust.

Thanks for the instructions. Got my buddy's after he decided to go custom fairly soon after purchasing his new truck. Install was about 1:30 while being interrupted due to a pork butt being smoked! Son and I had a good time doing this install and the test drive, well both our faces lit up!

I added the black tip version to mine, but too lazy to do it myself, so had Toyota do it. About $350 in labor. Love the sound and look. Not obnoxious

Excellent detailed post! It inspired me to install the exhaust on my 2021 sport. I did it with a couple of borrowed ramps. I did it by myself and didn't need any straps except when I took the muffler off. I strapped it but the hangers allow for release. As long as you use the hangers when installing you won't need any support. It really was simple. Thank you so much for taking the time to go into so much detail. Btw, it took me 1.5 hour start to finish and I only looked at your instructions once to make sure the original muffler clamp did not have to be reinstalled. It didn't as far as I could tell. Thanks again!!!

Do you have part number for hanger on original side and gasket from catalytic to muffler pipes?

It looks like PTR03-34103 is for Left Hand(driver side) only. I’d like to replace original gasket instead of reusing as well.

    Thanks,

This post was very helpful. I got a Trd system for $50 used !! Painted it up and got it on today along with Trd anti roll bar. Install was seamless. Perfect mix of tone but not too much.
