For you veteran travel trailer owners, I'm getting ready to install my fantastic fan in mine and on my pop up that had a metal roof so I just used butyl tape and then Dicor sealant around the edges on top of the screw holes. Upon looking at my current vent it looks like its overlapped with some type of exterior tape or something? I had butyl tape and dicor ready for the install but it looks like I might need something else as well?

Picture of how the current fan is sealed up...IMG_20190227_172844913.jpg

The factory fan is pathetic, looks like a computer fan stuck in the vent! I removed my fantastic fan before I sold my pop up so it will be welcome addition.

I think that is just as you described, tape under the flange that is screwed down then they flood the hell out of the top, screws and flange with the caulk.

Ok so its how I was going to install with the butyl tape but instead of a nice bead around the lip of the fan they just flooded it with the self leveling Dicor. Just wanted to make sure before I get into it.

New tires also arrived today, Goodyear endurance. These things are pretty stout and made in USA, I'm impressed.

@Alloutdrs1 ... You will love those tires. I switched out the Chinese blow-pops on my trailer last year. The goodyears run way cooler when you pull over and touch them. The sidewall is very stout in those as well.

Yes the sidewall is very stout, I was surprised in how much difference there is in just handling them. I have seen and had to many friends with blowouts from the cheap Chinese tires so this is a welcome investment IMO. Its worth it to me to not have any issues and be on the side of the highway while traveling.

One of the best mods I did was take a 6x6 vinyl fence post ... glue a post cap on one end, attach the other cap with a hinge/lock. Mount under the trailer with the hinge side by sewer. Get a plastic gutter that will slide in and out of said hollow fence post. Store stinky slinky in the gutter. Pull up ... open the cap ... pull the gutter out a bit ... full access to the sewage connection. Sold my RV or else I could show pics

Got the new fan installed today, man removing that old sealant was a pain.

Also installed a shower dispenser so we won't have to keep bottles in the camper for personal care products.

Dropped of the new wheels and tires to get mounted!IMG_20190310_152111_01_01.jpg IMG_20190310_171029_01.jpg IMG_20190310_170959_01.jpg

Wife and I bit the bullet two weeks and picked up this 2019 Keystone Bullet 287QBS. It's currently sitting in a storage building winterized and I'm dying to use it. Tundra pulled the old girl like a champ.

renogy is a great system. looking into putting one on the truck.

    here are the kits. https://www.renogy.com/products/solar-kits/

most of them come with charge controllers. the controllers go between the panels and the battery.

I have a kit from renogy and really like it so far. It's nothing great, but the single 175w solar panel keeps the two batteries charged while the camper is in storage. We're going to try a weekend trip using just the house batteries to see how long they can go. Sort of a mini boondocking experience using just the batteries (lights, vent fan, water pump, other 12v options) and propane (water heater. stove top). I'm not expecting a whole weekend from two deep cycle batteries but we'll see.

I found out the hard way. And a surge protector. And what was already said. One of my favorites is the telescopic tow mirrors. They help a lot. And make the truck look nicer too. Wife and I are going this Wednesday for 7 days in Gettysburg. A lot of history there. Got the truck loaded already. And lots of lights, some in the camper and some in the truck. Wife said you can never have enough lights. She got more lights for this season.

That sounds like a great trip!
Extra hoses & cords are a must. The one time you're more than 25ft from a water spigot or shore power and you realize the need.

Solar... lots and lots of solar!

Throw in a couple hundred Ah of Lithium batteries (very affordable now) and you're golden. Decent quality lithiums are the same price as an AGM battery and give you nearly double the usable amp hours while shaving off nearly half the weight... Win/Win.

600W of panels and 200Ah of lithium batteries and I basically never have to worry about power. (or maintaining flooded LA batteries, which I am historically very bad and forgetful about)

100W Renogy portable for when I'm parked in a shady campsite, and the Honda 2200 genny for when I need to run the AC or microwave some Bacon!

How did I miss this thread?!?

Quick Connect propane hose for our firepit that connects at the rear of the trailer. No more fiddling with extra tanks.

Bunkbed lights with USB ports (for kids devices) was an easy 5 minute upgrade.

Keyless Door Lock allows for the family to get in easily if they want to go back to the camper.

Installed an over the door shoe organizer into the shower area- this holds all our personal toiletries and dries out well.

I think this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XKB82HP?ie=UTF8 is the one I bought... haven't actually used it yet.

*Worth noting* The QD fitting on my trailer is downstream of the regulator, so already low pressure. If the regulator of your firepit, BBQ, etc. is part of the hose, no problem. Swap hoses and you're good.
If the regulator is integral to the appliance it'll need to be removed or you'll be "double regulating" it down to an insufficient propane flow.
