The *only* issue I have with electric jacks is that you're screwed if your battery dies. So, just don't let your battery die :)
Otherwise, yes, get one. They save time/effort.

    If you're plugged in to shore power;
    Broan heater

If you're not, then yes have a spare propane tank. I carry a second in the bed of the truck and swap out.

Not really, they come with a manual handle. If the battery dies just pop a rubber cover off and crank away.

Hell, I bring a couple of these even in dispersed camping. I learned a hard lesson in northern NM when my furnace wouldn't start one frosty night. Inside the camper was 36*F in the morning due to no heat. We had a generator, just no little heaters. The next town that had a Walmart, two were purchased. Of course, this hasn't happened again since.

Its the Taillight/aux terminals...I actually just did this mod last night and what I did was buy a 7way vehice side connector and jumped it and I will mount to the tongue. Then I have a place to store the 7way when unplugged out of the weather and can turn on the lights at night if it want.

Thanks!! We are really excited, I looked for awhile and just really liked the apex nano. The floorplan we found works great for us so we went for it.
Never thought about this, but is a great idea.

@TruckyTruck I like your campers wheels and the lights you added around to illuminate the ground around the camper.

@Azblue those levelers look very nice, I will have to look into these!
Good idea on the baby wipe dispenser, I have been looking into solar as some places we go don't have shore power.

Lots of great ideas in this thread, thanks for all the input guys!

We went camping during the great Arizona blizzard of 2019 https://tucson.com/news/local/inche...cle_ece26752-0e96-11e9-a812-dbf00b96977b.html

We had plug in electric and brought a cheap $20 space heater. Surprisingly the furnace hardly kicked on even in mid 20's weather. Very handy.

    Exactly!!

We do more remote camping (well, as remote as one can get with 33' behind them), and if its cold out, and changing the batteries, those heaters are on to save propane. We have two large tanks though.

Yeah I had a small utility space heater for the pop up since I didn't have a heater in it and I planned on transferring that to help supplement the propane camper heat so maybe it will use less propane. If that little heater could keep a pop up comfortable it should have no problem doing so in the travel trailer.

Yep, I was surprised. Mid 20's is FUCKING FREEZING to those of us here in the desert southwest but that cheap, 15 year old space heater kept our 24' dual slide trailer warm, even in the bedroom with the doors closed.

Both of these are great suggestions. I don't have the automatic transfer valve for the propane, but the factory pigtails for the hose connections are garbage, even on high end campers. I found both of mine in failure after a couple years, and they had never been in sunlight for more than a bottle swap.

The electrical shutoff is a must. I thought most campers (if not all) came with them. I must have been assuming again....

Here is a topic I will say I have had my camper for 3 yrs and just this last fall had an issue with our heater our funace is not easy to remove. Long story short I should have bought the screens to put on the exhaust and intake because mud dobbers got in amd messed it air intake up. Cleaned it all up it works fine now but not fun . so get you some screens. For the furnace.

Do they sell screens you install or something people fab up? I have these dobbers in my area, always building nest around the house so this is a great suggestion.

Buy a small tool kit, hammer, nails/wood screws, small saw, some 1x1 wood for backing up doors when they come loose. put this all inside a compartment somewhere. You will need them eventually.

Any RV place will have them for about 9.00.

I get to take my RV in tomorrow for some maintenance/recall warranty work. That should be fun in the snow! Doubt I can get it out, but I will give it a hell of a shot.

    Then up for sale!

Thanks! I agree its a little awkward shutting the screen.

Bug screens, screen door handle in my cart!

Good idea! I have a cordless impact so I will buy an extra socket of the correct size to keep in the camper for this task!

We might go with a 32-36' gooseneck enclosed trailer. Then every toy is inside, locked, and the hotel is a nicer option. I can have hammocks inside when doing more remote camping, have a port-a-potty, and outside shower.

With the rising costs of camping sites (most are 4-500.00 per week), the cost of RV's, insurance has started getting stupid in my area. Every carrier wanted 490-900.00 per year for an item used a few times. With the new tax code I will not be able to write off the camper as a second home anymore. So kinda pointless for me.

    Something like this:

    s-l1600.jpg

    9-12,000.00 for this 34'

Great thread! Just got back today from a little winter camping trip. Found out I need to come up with a tool to scrape snow/ice build up on top of the slide, was able to get it done with a broom but time consuming. Will be looking into a slide topper/awning not completely sure that'll help with wind driven snow tho.20190113_193325.jpg
