Recently bought 2018 Tundra SR5 TRD Off Road 5.7.....where's the trans temp gauge? or is there a warning/idiot light instead???? I got strange looks and shoulder shrugs when I inquired at the dealership. Said they never were asked that.
My 2010 SR5 has a gauge. Did they drop it on later models or is it only available on some packages?

Yes, they eliminated this on 3rd gen Tundras. You will also notice sliding center console and hot power outlet (one that stays on for 2 hours after you turn the truck off) are gone too. Dual climate control is now offered only in higher trim Tundras.

Glad you mentioned about the center console and dual climate controls. I also noticed that. No power sliding rear window either, though I only opened the one on my 2010 SR5 about a dozen times. Sooooo, the trade-off is I get "cool and informative" dashboard info displays instead?? :bananadance:

Toyota also removed Auto Dimming/Turn Signal mirrors from the limited trim trucks. Inside auto dimming mirror no longer has an ambient amber led light pointing down on the dash. Double cabs limited trucks no longer have the option of a memory package and rear doors no longer have storage. CrewMax trucks no longer have sliding/reclining rear seats. Passenger seat is no longer power on limited trucks also. Oh and the oh shit handle on the driver side too.

edit: remembered some more. No more dual glove boxes and small storage with a door on the front doors are gone too.

My wife had a different name for the missing driver side handle when she hopped on the running board and reached for it expecting it to be there.

I miss the extra storage compartments. I also learned skid plates are not standard except on certain packages like the TRD Off Road
Having not looked at Tundras for 8 years I guess I didn't notice some of the changes..or deletions.
Still, we love the truck. The Off Road features are nice and well worth it for our lifestyle. Our 2010 is pushing 300K. Ultra reliable!

From what I’ve read the transmission gauge offered with the tundra before were about useless and never really moved anyway to tell you anything. Get a scan gauge or ultra gauge you can get a bunch of info and monitor what you want. I researched and bought an ultra gauge when I had my Tacoma and I’ve loved it the display is a bit easier to read than the scan gauge

I know this and all post. I have a two thousand eighteen tundra. Bought the ultra and having trouble getting it to connect for transmission. Wonder if you have any pointers.
