i've had the parking brake error come up after dumping to D from a very slow R roll.
I would just park, engage the parking brake (pull the lever), and it would go away.

Was the parking brake error the only thing that you saw? Mine would slam into the wrong gear and throw a bunch of errors. It would also go into limp mode until it was parked for about 5 minutes.

Update after few months. New transmission has had no issues and everything it great with the truck.

Did end up following through with the lemon law and won.

lesson learned on arbitration, don’t do it, it’s a total waste of time, just get a lemon lawyer. It’s free and saves time.

Not right now. Part of the settlement was full warranty on everything, so my risk on keeping if for warranty length is pretty low. I might wait for ‘24 models to come out.

All transmissions do inhibit accidental reverse when speed is greater than a few miles. You can move the shifter into R, but nothing bad will happen in transmission.

To me it sounds it was a mechanical issue in valve body.

I can confirm this works. I wouldn't get under 20-25 mph doing it though. I believe around 14mph, it will actually shift. No experience in this truck but I tried it on ice with my old truck. Was seeing if it was smart enough to shift after I stopped or do what it is told and shift. As I slowed down, around 14mph or so the tires locked up. I immediately put it back in neutral.

They already have a 5/60 on the drivetrain don't they? Is that all you get winning the case or partial money back? I paid for the 7/100 just because it's an all new truck.

Yup, but when you sue for a settlement, they can say take the money and don’t talk to us again. I got the money and they keep the warranty terms.

Ahhh, nice. The sum would help ease the disappointment in a new truck. I think it'd be worth keeping for a few years.

This isn’t an intentional feature, at least not the way everyone describes it, the transmission controller is just protecting itself because it knows trying to shift into reverse at those speeds would grenade itself, still dangerous. Thankfully with 360 cameras we can toggle rear camera anytime with the flick of a button.

Ya, I know it's not intentional, but a safety feature. Being electronic controlled that's the least it could do. Do you get the same option of reverse view as when it's in reverse? I have the 360 also but seemed to think there's different views depending on speed.

I have mine set show the bed camera, so I can see how my dog is doing. I believe, the rear camera is an option, I'll check when I go to lunch.

I just played around with it a little. It does have that option. It was one I hadn't looked at yet. The bed one is nice but I have a bed cover now so all I see is that

Above 10mph your only options are bed and trailer hitch. I do have a trailer connected currently. So I don't know if it disables reverse view. I doubt it though because. One thing that was neat on my old bosses F150 eco was, when a tailer with brakes was connected, it had its own odometer. Would be handy for keeping miles for businesses.

I think the 3rd gen cult believes the 2.0, 2.5 are mocking them but please understand we are just as embarrassed by this truck as you are. I am frustrated that I now have to drive my 2019 until 2036 when hopefully the 4.0 gen is a massive improvement over this dash warning light disco show. If it was as reliable as every previous Toyota truck in history the gargantuan grill by itself would still turn-off every buyer other than Stevie Wonder and Helen Keller. At least Helen wouldn't have to listen to the fake noise from the speakers. This 3.0 gen is the quintessential participation ribbon in the truck category.

Gen 4 will be quadro-turbo twin-compressor 1.0 liter inline-three, with 20 speed DSG transmission. Or, perhaps, all EV.
