Damn I missed this post. That is ridiculous. Guess that's why the Toyota engineers I know recommend an aftermarket front mounted heat exchanger.

This has been an unfortunate few threads.

Do I think there is a mechanical problem? No. The OBD2 says otherwise.

Do I think something is wrong with the gauge? Yes. Not sure what it is. Could be a grounding issue since it doesn't happen all the time. Like I said earlier, these gauges are not as accurate as they could be.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
If a problem has a solution it is NOT an issue - everyone uses vehicles slightly differently - mine ran upwards of 256 F - too hot for me to sleep well - one cooler and fan later - just like OP - sub 180s - Issue fixed - woohoo.

I had decided to put an exterior transmission cooler on my 1794 LE, just for insurance. I hardly ever tow more than a small trailer with a zero turn mower or other small things on the trailer but since it's a pavement pounder here in Virginia with hot ass summers I figured why not?

To me it makes sense, just like adding an oil catch can can help reduce carbon buildup. I'm not willing to have something go wrong on my truck I love when I can spend the money to make it right. It's like maintaining a 5k oil change regiment instead of 10k, what can it hurt?
