I would have to look it up but I'm pretty sure it's from the pan.

I am in the market for a new Tundra, but, this mickey mouse trans warmer only has me on edge, don't really want to have to wrench a new vehicle with a cooler, why didn't Toyota make a Tow version Tundra with aux cooler?? I tow quite a bit, 4,000 lb TT 4-5 times a yr thru mountainous terrain and several times a yr my SXS Rhino 700 also thru and over the sierras into Nevada. I also 4x4 slow offroad quite a bit in Nevada. Sometimes for 25-60 miles.

It's actually really easy to do. If your uncomfortable doing it get an independent garage to do it or even ask your dealer at the time of purchase. A Tundra without a cooler is still more reliable than any of the domestic offerings.

Yea, I probably will end up adding a cooler to a new Double Cab Pro. There is nothing else out there even close in reliability. I like the new XD Pro-4X Titan but know what this will mean if I buy one, plenty of trips to the dealer for repairs. Same with any of the big 3 offerings too. Pretty sad.

Yep, seems like maybe the beginning of the end of Nissan that would be the last truck to delete up there.

They need to ditch Renault and go back to making sporty, reliable vehicles.

I don't think the Titans are that bad. I had an '06 that I just sold after I bought the Tundra in May. It was not as trouble free as our family Toyotas but it was MUCH better than the "domestics."

Wow! I had not heard that! They are still selling - I see them all the time around here.

Actually that what they said in a statement. Concentrating on their strengths of sedans, SUVs and sports cars. They sold very few Titans in NA compared to the competition. The Frontier is staying.

Just had the same experience driving up Silver Canyon into the White Mountains east of Bishop, CA loaded with camping gear. Was 100 degrees outside and about 2/3 of the way up the 6K climb the warning light popped on. Dug around in the manual and found it said if the light turns off by itself, proceed with caution. Warning light went off in a couple minutes. And, yes, I was lugging it in 4Hi. No further problems when I put it into 4Lo.

So I just got into the older trans cooler thread when it got locked, was a bit of a mess, but here’s my info. These temps were realized while towing a 3500lb V-nose trailer west on I-10 from Texas to California. Outside temps were consistently over 95. I kept the trans in S-4 at 60-65 mph and unless the converter unlocked it was fine. If the converter unlocked it would flash up to 255 and the pan to around 240 then cool right back off after locking up again.
I’ve got a Hayden cooler setup on the way.
The return trip loaded has been the same, I don’t know what the over-temp condition is but it isn’t 260 degrees.

    Smart move.
There is ZERO downside to adding the auxiliary cooler. It can only help prevent problems in the future.

That’s about what I tow. You will be fine. While I do think watching the temp is smart, buy yourself a monitoring system to make sure you have a problem before you go solving anything. These treads can be “chicken little” inducing.

Nissan is pulling the Titan from Canada, not all of North America.

No surprise there. I've followed TFL for years and generally love them...but their reporting has suffered recently.

I've never had an issue with it where I live but we don't have traffic like most places in the U.S. do.

The whole voiding your warranty regarding any transmission issues part kind of sucks.

Warranties cannot be made void. They can deny claims, but they would have to show your modification caused the issue. Magnusson Moss Act.

THIS all day every day, I’m getting old I’m tired of killing the myth of a threat of warranty. The only thing is the United States can’t say how every other country is. Toyota has to deal with the country in a manner agreed upon either bilateral, treaties, agreements etc.. and for them to do business in the states it’s in our courts.
If you mod your vehicle with aftermarket parts no matter if it’s an equivalent or an addition and it screws up your vehicle of course it’s on you but the burden is on the oem to prove said part caused said damage.

extended or 3rd party warranties I do not know if they apply.

If Toyota denies a warranty claim you can waive the Magnuson Moss act in their face and it won’t matter. It’ll be little you vs their corporate lawyers and you best believe they will drag it out. Not to mention your truck will then become evidence so forget about driving it. You’ll spend more money trying to challenge them than you would have spent just paying for work they denied the warranty on

Voiding your transmission after the warranty expires... sucks more. I'll take my chances with the long-proven benefit of the auxiliary cooler.

Some of you are WAY too uptight and paranoid.
