Transmission Cooler Bracket Kit - Hayden 679 / 689

I had most of the parts in my garage for this install -

A couple notes on my install (still waiting on hard lines so I mounted the cooler and ran the lines but have them zip tied out of the way until i get the additional parts).

1. I have a 2019 with the old style TRD pro grill. The Jomax relocation kit for the sensor gets in the way of the hayden 689 / bracket.

• I initially notched out a part of the bracket and cooler to accommodate interference from a mounting bolt of the Jomax relocation bracket. However, this caused the cooler to sit unvene and I wasn't happy with the look of it / worried about the function of it sitting not level......even though that was probably just my OCD.
• I slept on it and decided to use a modified mending plate to extend the top hole of the bracket to allow for clearance which then only allowed for one mounting point to the cross member on the bottom of the bracket. I used a heavy duty zip tie secured through the other bottom bracket hole and cinched it tight to the cross member. This allowed me to level the cooler and be confident in the placement / install.

2. I was going to run all rubber lines directly to the thermostat, but again my OCD kicked in. Figured if I was going through the trouble of installing this that I might as well spend the extra money and do it the right way (especially with the Fred Anderson parts sale still going on). So I have the hard lines on order and will install with the OEM thermostat and inlet / outlet hoses.

All in I probably have about $650 (includes oem thermostat, inlet/outlet hoses, clamps, JMUNK bracket, hayden cooler and I ordered 10 quarts of ATF to do a drain / fill) into this but after going to the mountains for the 4th weekend and monitoring transmission temps exceeding 250 degrees and smelling burning rubber (which I now believe to be the transmission oil) during a steep constant climb to the top of the mountain, I am convinced that I want / need this mod done asap to prolong the life of my truck.

I’ve cut and had powdercoated what will be the last batch for the foreseeable future. I’m extremely busy and might circle back to these brackets after I free up some time.

The remaining brackets I will sell for $95 shipped with the hardware kit and if you’d like AN fittings add $15. The feedback has been overwhelming great and a lot of people have installed them. The efficiency of the Hayden coolers have proven themselves and make them a great budget friendly DIY option.

 

This was the first time I believe that someone used the transmission cooler bracket along with the Jonas radar relocation bracket, seems they both want to occupy some of the same space. Looks great installed!
