What CA dealership did you go to? I called my local toyota dealership and they absolutely wouldn't work with me and are going to charge me $215 to do it. I'm so mad, but I'm stuck because i can't do at a dealership.

Ni-Ju-Ni, I went to Gilroy. Not sure how TSB’s normally work after warranty is done as this was my first. I had just purchased the truck, discovered the issue on drive home, and called them the next day. They knew it was for towing as I had my trailer there. So of course it was free. $215 is crazy for a known issue and really only 15 min of an actual techs time.

    Caboj,
Thanks. I'm in Thousand Oaks and I wish TO toyota would help since I purchased it new from them and have done all of my services there. The service member kept saying "$215 is our hourly rate!" I asked several questions why and he kept saying the same thing, "$215 is our hourly rate!" My hands are tied, so I guess I will have to do it. This will be the last thing done at this dealership.

Had to pay also last year for the update when I bought my truck with 49K miles on it.
Damn scam. Everything else I buy, updates are free. Being it was screwed up from day one, you would think Toyota should cover it past warranty.
Bitched at dealership a little, but that got nowhere. Sell a certified used vehicle with an error in trailer brake system? I even had the "dealer" extended warranty, but that doesn't cover "downloads". That was even more annoying than the beeping, was I wasted money on their warranty.
I guess previous owner never towed.

I have a 2019 Tundra and horse trailer that I'm having similar problems with but not entirely sure it's the same fix and wondering if anyone here has insight.

Tundra has pulled other trailers no problem, have had it checked multiple times and all the connections work. Had the trailer wiring redone and new plug installed - multiple times the trailer lights work. The trailer lights work perfectly on our F250. When the trailer is plugged into the Tundra, the running lights work but as soon as you turn on a blinker, the hazards, or hit the brake, NO lights on BOTH the truck and trailer work. I've been to three different places, no one has an answer. My problem seems like a short somewhere, but figured I'd ask here if anyone had this same problem and had success with the update?

    Thanks for ANY input
