I have called a couple times - and it is the worst phone system I have ever used. Took me forever to get to the right menu - and the only result I get is that the rail car was emptied in December in California.

After my update on Tuesday/Wednesday, the dealer said it was on a truck. Called Friday and it’s still in F status and they are back to not knowing anything. Still saying it will be here next week. I’m not holding my breath. Build date was 6/30 and no holds at any point.

I'm getting extremely annoyed at this point - seeing trucks that were build in the end on July and early August already showing up to dealer lots while this truck is basically MIA...
I am also waiting on a Highlander for the wife, that one is supposedly going to reach VPC on the 14th - so the way things are going, the Highlander might actually show up before the Tundra

I hear you! I’m still waiting on my truck with no clear delivery date. The arrival window has changed 4 times now. The truck has been on QC hold twice. What a frustrating process!

I think the frustrating part about Toyota is that the factory doesn't directly sell their vehicles to the dealers but through the wholesalers - because there multiple wholesalers for Toyota, they all operate differently and with a different sense of urgency. I've seen dealers in CA get their vehicles faster vs stores in TX (and the Tundra is built in TX!)

Almost every other manufacturer is in direct control over their distribution process so it feels like its easier for the dealers to get a straight answer
(if there is anyone here who works for a Toyota dealer, please correct me if I am wrong)

..sorry, just went on a rant

Rant away! This is getting ridiculous. I can get on Amazon and order some cheap garbage from China and track it all the way around the world till it gets to my house. And you can’t tell me the location of a $60,000 truck that was built over two months ago?

Exactly. By the time I get my truck it will close to 2023, and I’ll still have to pay dealer markup for a 22 model

One of the reasons I am not just saying fuck it and moving on with life is bc I found a local dealer that sells at MSRP, otherwise I'd be done with this headache

After posting about no update, I checked my dealer’s “express checkout site” where the truck had been listed with an “inbound” status. The inbound status was removed so I called my sales person and they informed me that it hit GT status yesterday. The truck is officially on its way to the dealer and should be there Monday. In theory, I’ll be grabbing it on Wednesday. Finally some movement!

    That's awesome to hear!

For whatever reason, my truck was never listed on the dealers site..

    What state are you in?

There are only a handful of dealers that have a secondary site in my area. I’m located in Metro Detroit. For whatever reason, their “express site” keeps updated information on inbound units but their primary site only lists the vehicles after they hit the lot.

I tried calling every dealer around me, and even some far away. They Either didn’t have any trucks available and a huge wait list, or were marking up over MSRP. I found a dealer with the smallest markup I could find. It still sucks and if I didn’t need the truck for work and Hauling the kid, I would just cancel the order. The major bummer in all of this is that for the first time I can remember, dealers actually have a leg up on the consumers and can treat us however they please. One of the managers actually told me that if I didn’t buy the truck it would be fine with them. They have a list of people just waiting to pay way more over MSRP than what I agreed to

Yea, being in the business I hear that a lot from customers. We try to be different at our store but at the end of the day I have more customers than I have cars to sell. Reality is that this market won’t last forever and customers will remember how the dealerships treated them - that’s one of the reasons we try to be different.
I too called a bunch of local (and non local) dealers and it was either non available over MSRP - the store I ended up ordering from is MSRP plus $1100 for tint, tire/wheel, windshield and interior/exterior protection.
They ended up switching sales people on me so now dealing directly with a manager and he claims that my truck is among 6 that are supposed to arrive to their store that are being held for whatever reason and it’s a day-by-day check and report process.

    Me too!

sales guy just texted me today to advise it’s in GT status as of yesterday (12 Aug).

FWIW, you have to keep your ear to the ground. I live in Colorado and every dealer here wouldn’t even sell to me. So I put in deposits at three different ones (UT, TX, and IN). The one in Texas but first and offered to sell me a Pro for $101k (dollars…not pesos). I told him he could pound sand (Texas isn’t a huge Toyota market) and got my deposit back. The one in Indiana bit next and are selling me one at MSRP. im kinda relieved it was them because I’d hate to hate them bc I bought my Tacoma from them and they totally did me right during that purchase experience.

I meant as compared to Ford and GM trucks sold in Texas. It’s relative
