    Any help is much appreciated....

Tire shop mounted my 35s ridge grapplers on my scs sr8s.

everything looks great except the tpms light has never gone away.

I purchased their aftermarket sensors (white knight brand) to use on my wheels. But the truck doesn’t recognize them or anything.

they deflated and reinflated the tires to calibrate. The handheld device they use has the option for steel wheels, alloys, or push to start.

none of them cleared the code.
Any ideas? I’m going to the dealership to see if they might help fix the issue. Hopefully they don’t overcharge me :notsure:

Do you have oem tpms on yours? If so, I’m assuming they’re the tpms for alloy rims, no?

I recommend installing your OEM. I had my install shop install aftermarket tpms to save time. I had same problem, my Off-road shop couldn't program the aftermarket tpms. Went to Firestone and they copied the code from the oem tpms and still didn't work. Went to dealership and they couldn't program them and I got charged $160 for an hour of labor. Basically gave money away. Went back to my Off-road shop and they took out the OEMs from my stocks and now everything works. Don't be like me.

Sounds like I’m in for some oem tpms! I hate buying straight from the dealer....hopefully they’ll price match or something :frusty:

Where are your OEM wheels? I sold mine after I fixed the tpms.

Toyota uses different sensors for different years. The sensors for ‘07-‘17 are different than what is used for ‘18-‘20. I do not know if the sensors for a ‘21 are the same as for a ‘20 but your local parts dept should be able to give you the part number.

Easy fix. Disable it, gonna be a headache and money pit chasing the issue frequently.

Have you recalibrated with the button under brake controller? What happen to the ones from oem wheels? I had the trd wheels tooks those and put on ray 10s no issues. Best of luck

Looks good. I had SCS F5’s on my 4runner pro. I used my oem sensors. Not sure why you did not. You may have to take it to the Toyota dealer for them to get them linked up.

Oem and watch out the tire installers break them frequently, especially on Fridays. Ask me how I know? And the sensors are about $90 and the calibration around here is about $100, and then they charge you to remount and balance every tire (because yeah they need rebalancing?) SMH. It’s a mess. My cheaper of the two Toyota dealers wants like $260 per corner. And yes the newer trucks (19 and newer I think) require a new code that most tire shops can’t calibrate. It’s fun. A piece of electrical tape over the light also works, because after al that I went to a 5 tire rotation and said F it LOL. I did just buy a used TPMS I plan to put in the fifth tire so I can get my read outs back when it’s in rotation and remove the electrical tape.
On another note do not let them talk you into an alignment check. My dad took their free “service” at a different dealership and they wouldn’t let him leave because it was “unsafe.” There were no issues going in they just told him needed to be checked and it was free. So he let them do the alignment and afterwards it was un-driveable. Hope he’s finally done with that Toyota dealer! Answer to everything but exactly what you want is no. I’ve learned that as hopefully he has too now!

So I can confirm oem TPMS p/n 426070C091
will work on a 2021 with a/m wheels without push to start.

I didn’t want to attempt removing my oem steel tpms from my off-road rims since apparently it only works when you try to do workarounds as the sensors aren’t cross-compatible.

So now with the oem tpms installed on my scs sr8 rims I have no further codes thrown!!:)

I have the same oem sensors in mine. I cannot get the pressures to show on my display. The only thing I haven't tried is dropping the pressure. Do I drop the pressure and then reset, or do I drop it, inflate it, and then reset?

I’ll never understand why people get new wheels on new trucks and don’t spend an extra $80 to put their oem sensors into the new wheels.

The problem is that aftermarket sensors are hit and miss on any 18+ truck. If you have a 20 or 21 year truck, pretty much none of the aftermarket sensors are going to work because Toyota changed the TPMS system in 18’, 19’ then again for 2020 trucks. Aftermarket companies can’t, nor bother to keep up with the changes. Had you put your oem sensors in, you would have zero issues.

They are Toyota OEM sensors for the 2020. They registered to the truck and the light went out. The issue I have is getting the pressures to show on the display. The funny thing is that they show on my aftermarket head unit.

There is a certain procedure to follow in the manual on the 2020 4runner pro. When I had my SCS wheels put on none of my sensors went on the same where they came off. Because the road force balance machine tell you where to put the best balance wheel at. Then I reset mine and no issue at all.

This would have been ideal for me if I started off with the trd alloy wheels, it didn’t.

My truck came stock with the steel 18s. I did have the tire shop move the steel sensors to the alloy wheels - I was unaware at the time that there were different tpms sensors for steels and alloys (and different lug nuts too) and discovered the hard way that it didn’t work. I didn’t bother changing the tpms at that point as I planned on upgrading rims eventually. So I had the tpms light on my dash since.

Upon upgrading to the scs wheels, i didn’t see any definitive answers on what specific TPMS would work for a 2021. Most info was for previous years.

Since the tire shop has installed these same wheels and tires previously WITH a/m sensors, we went that route initially.

I bought aftermarket sensors from Tire Rack.com for my 20 Platinum(push start) when I downsized to 17's. I ended up buying an Autel TMPS tool from Amazon for about $200. It took me about 10 minutes total time to program the new TMPS sensors. They have worked flawlessly since last July.
If I ever decide to go back the the 20's, the programming is very quick.

I have owned 3 different sets. My last set F5’s sold them from my 4runner Pro. Had 3 people wanting to buy them. I plan on getting another set for my tundra Pro. But not in a hurry. But you need to be online when Vin puts them for sale at usually 9:00pm. I have seen Ray 10’s sell out in 5 mins.
