I have a 2009 Tundra. Had it for 5 years. TPMS light has been on the whole time. Finally decided it was time to fix the problem. I put new sensors in it and the light is still on. I worked at Toyota and Lexus dealerships for years and would prefer not to go in for such a small issue. The guy that installed all 4 did get them to register with truck but the light still remains. We have tried the initialization process twice and both times it seems like it was fine and after a short drive its supposed to clear the light. It wont. Can I do something myself to diagnose?
    Thanks
    Scott

Does your spare have one? The light was on in the wifes 4Runner when it got cold and we found that the pressure was low in the spare. Some spares have them, some do not.

The tpms sensors need programmed to the truck. Did you have a shop install them ?

What's your tire pressure? I was told too much pressure can cause the light to come on too.

Discount tire programmed all 4 of mine. They also used a tpms reset tool. The reset tool was different from his programming scanner. I learned something new that day..

    Joe,
A tire store did it for me twice. I watched both times and it all went well, except for the damn light>

Yes, you need to cut and jump one wire from the TPMS harness. I did this and no more TPMS light. Its no help for pre-2018 anyways, it doesnt tell you which tire is deflated.

The tire pressures are dead on with the factory settings. 43 in the front and 45 in the rear, according to the tire sticker in the door jamb.

After spendig the money on 4 new sensors and breaking down 4 tires and balancing again, I sure would prefer not to just trick the light to go off. That would be my last choice.

I try to use the factory settings that are found in the drivers door jamb. Stickers says 43 front 45 rear. I have different tire now than when I got the truck 5 years ago. Running Goodyear wranglers at the moment.

Put 'em in a PVC tube that you can pressurize and throw it behind the seat. I'm seriously bummed I didn't have mine removed when the new tires went on the other day.

I will try to reset it again after I drop them down to 28-30, see if that helps. Thanks

yeah between deflating tires before going off road and different sets of wheels. TPMS is too much of a hassle. If you take care of your car, no need for TPMS

TPMS sensor has been giving me fits ever since I did my lift and tire replacement. My issue has more to do with it being a 2018 and the shops being too cheap to update their software to properly reset the sensors. 2 shops both told me to go into the dealership. Not worth my time to go out of the way for TPMS. Im just going to wait until my next maintenance visit.

A tip one of the shops gave me was to take your OEM wheels/tires (if you still have them and if they still have the sensors) and lean them up against your wheels. If TPMS recognizes them, its possible the senors that are int he new setup arent compatible
