I know this is an old thread. But how will the boss or radflo kits be with bumper/winch combo? Time to ditch my RC kit asap

Same here. I think they come with 700lb spring option. But still don’t know over time with the extra weight how it will sag

Haven't seen any issues with the coilovers, as @Alexstundra stated they do come with a 700 lb spring rate to help accommodate the additional weight.

I thought I had already chimed in someplace in this thread, but apparently not.

Anyway, the BOSS were an amazing upgrade over the 5100s. Ran them hard for a year until we just outgrew them and needed a 3.0 and bypasses on the front. Started hitting jumps and whoops and stuff and they’re just not meant for that. They did however take some serious abuse, and when I did blow one, @Toytec Lifts sent me a replacement immediately, no questions asked. I’ll support and recommend those guys forever, even though I’m on a different brand now.

@KevinK I've followed your build and on IG. I don't do the extreme offroad like you. I'm more highway with small trails on weekends. I need something to hold up my 185lb bumper + winch. Leaning towards toytec boss kit. Even looked into icon remote resi ones.

Yeah for what you’re into, I’d call Toytec and ask for the BOSS with the heavier spring for your front weight. It’s a great coilover for almost everything.
The remote resi coilivers are good if you’re going to do long sessions of washboard or bumpy roads for hours on end. The resi pretty much just offers additional cooling capacity for those long stretches.

We removed our anti sway bar when we installed the BOSS. Obviously it’s a judgment call you have to make for yourself based on your driving style and stuff, but there are two things to consider:

    1) off road performance - take it off
    2) on road safety - leave it on

We took it off and left it off.

@KevinK would the radflo ones be a step up from the boss kit? I was also looking into icon resi's too. Thanks again for your help!

I'm not familiar with the RadFlos other than their old (and possibly no longer relevant) reputation as not being great. I'm sure their quality isn't the same as it was 10 years ago or whatever, but I don't have any direct experience with them, nor do I know of anyone with recent experience on them.

As for the Icons with remote resis:

:annoyed:You guys have me all over the map with level kits. First I thought 5100s, that gave way to Toytec Eibach for a few weeks, then I thought OME was the way to go, but then I discovered the 6112/5160 package offered by Boss 4x4s, and now with what you all say in this thread about when rear reservoirs are really needed, the adjustability of the Toytec Boss coilovers, and Toytec's customer service, I'm thinking 5160s may be overkill and my money would be better spent with Toytec on the Boss kit with shackles.

Aren't 5160s just the rear shocks?!?! Doesn't seem equal to the boss kit with shackles.

Yes, sorry I didn't clarify. Boss4x4s sells a Bilstein kit with 6112s up front and 5160s in the back for essentially the same price as Toytec's Boss kit (when shackles are selected instead of blocks). Both kits come with bump stops and diff drop kits. The major differences appear to be that Toytec's coilovers are more easily adjustable than the 6112s and the 5160s have the dual reservoirs whereas the rear Boss shocks don't. After reading all this thread, I'm thinking the Toytec kit is better suited to my usage.

I think you add reservoir shocks to the boss kit.

Thinking the boss kit with 700lb springs will be best. Maybe crank them up a little more.

3” lift in front 2.5 coilover 700 lb spring. I haven’t gotten in contact with Dave from toytec yet but I don’t really need resis in front which would be cool. But the price difference I can’t justify and rear boss with Resi is good for 3” lift. I’m gonna be running 3” front and 2-2.5” in back. Also where i am in the Northeast I think Kings would rust out in a matter of one winter. Still have to discuss wih dave. But they’re kind of middle I believe

That's why I was looking into the toytec boss, little more adjustability in height. I'm fine with 3", that's where I started. Just doing the front for now, then going to replace the rear blocks and shocks later on. Where in PA are you?
