Too much to read, but my 2012 Tundra had a recall for this issue years ago.

This was 2yrs ago, Tacoma's were not included in that only Tundra's. Last month they sent letters to 2012 Tacoma owners that they would now cover or reimburse for repairs. So now I am fighting to get my money back for the parts I bought, I was denied at first because I paid cash for my parts. I had to call Corporate and state my case again so we will see where it goes. I just don't understand why so much pushback on the issue. They should of replaced it no charge when I brought a truck in under warranty. I like my Toyotas but some of the things Toyota as a company does I will never understand.

I've seen cases mentioned here on the forum where Toyota refunded full repair cost back for work done prior to being covered under warranty.

Yeah I'm hoping I will get reimbursed, I submitted all required paperwork and got a denial letter 2wks ago because my payment method was cash even though I supplied a receipt. I had to call corporate and they had to call the dealer and have them look it up in records that I purchased the parts. Lady said she was going to resubmit my info so we will see what happens. Just have to jump through so many unnecessary hoops for a problem they have know about for awhile now.

Did you call or write to corporate. You can do it on there website.
The reason I am on my 6th Toyota is the outstanding support I have received, even when out of warranty. However, I worked direct with Toyota, through their website.
I also buy all my cars from the same dealer. It gives me leverage when I need there support.

Keep in mind, crappy dealers don’t always want to do the warranty repair since they really don’t make much money on the work. This may just be a short sighted shitty dealer. Get with corporate.

Hello All Tundra owners. So are the AIP's covered for my 2012 4.6l Tundra with low miles (purchased new, original owner and paid for)? Please advise because I was told by the dealership several months ago that it was not covered. I was advised by my service advisor to buy an extended warranty ($1900.32 + tax) and I would only pay $100 deductible for this repair. Unfortunately it was not covered because it was an emission problem. I was able to get the warranty refunded.
Currently I'm in limp mode and I'm able to drive it this way but I would like to replace these parts or would the bypass kit work? The bypass costs under $400 (See link below). Will this bypass work for years to come, will affect my Tundra in any way? I live in Miami so covering these 2 valves should not affect me? I believe it's for States with emission inspections?
This will be the Last Toyota I will ever purchase and I will not recommend to friends, families or foe's.
It would be nice to hear back from Southeast Toyota.

I blame the EPA for all these type of issue. They just can't leave things alone with cars and trucks. A good friend has been driving big semi-trucks for 40 years and he is ready to retire. The engines are great but the emissions problems kill them. He has seen this gradual destruction of semi-trucks for the last 30 years and it's terrible what that industry has gone through thanks to the EPA.

If the truck is in limp mode, I’m not sure if the bypass kit will work. The problem has to be fixed before and codes cleared if I remember correctly.

Call the manufacturer to see if this will work.

I just bought a used 2012 Tundra 4.6l and after about two months the code p0442 came up. Called Toyota only to find out they stop recalling 2012 Tundra but still doing 2012 Tacoma as a recall for the same item up to 10 years from 2007. They said unless enough Tundra Complaints they are not fixing anything on a Tundra. I also think it's a Safety issue trying to pull out in traffic. Anyone have any ideas? I

Isn't the P0442 code related to a bad gas cap, or do I have the numbers crossed with something else?

Go to hewitt-tech.com, buy the appropriate bypass kit & install it. That's the move
