Yeah...I remember there being a no drinking rule at Shilo when you were on the trail.
Which of course all of us ignored......
Pretty sure they knew we were drinking but didnt say anything since we brought them some serious money when we held runs there.

    It's an off road park.
Cant remember how many acres it was but it was HUGE!!!
The Guy that owned the place would lead runs in a Suzuki Samurai.
    That thing would go anywhere!!!

The full name is Shilo Ridge.

Wait....I'm assuming you have Dachshunds based off your Avatar.
Knew a Guy that was in TTORA that had two of em.
He brought them with him everywhere.
But he lived somewhere around Houston.

There's a Looooong steep trail there.
Watched a Guy Really F'up his truck on it!!!
He lost it at the top and it was all over!!!
Normally hitting a tree is a Bad Thing but in this case it stopped him from going all the way to the bottom which would have been FAR Worse!!!

Oh....the weird thing about Shilo is the iron ore heavy soil.
It'll turn your tires blue due to some reaction between the rubber and iron ore.
Which was Cool for me since I had a Blue FJ at the time.

Yeah...watched Heeps break a lot of axles at that place.
Dont know if they weren't smart enough to get off the throttle when you started bouncing or if it was a "Jeep Thing you wouldnt understand".
Hated that sticker!! They were right though,I dont understand....why you would buy a Heep.
I did however like the sticker that was upside down that read....
"If you can read this please roll me back over!!"
    Very fitting for a Heep.

I think I mentioned making all kinds of parts for the Tacoma Territory Guys back in the Day.
The Hub wrench for the Hubs(obviously) since the Hubs were so hard to engage, they were a little bigger than a Skoal can with a knurled grip.
That and a Hand Throttle to mount on your shifter so you weren't doing the two foot hustle on steep inclines.
While you couldnt get full throttle(on the ones I sold) you really didnt need it.
Once you got the truck moving it was easy enough to go back to the foot throttle.
The one I made for myself had a Pulley rig which allowed you to get full throttle.
    Just because.....

I think they closed. They were in Alto, near Lufkin. Lots of mud from what I remember. The first Mega Run was held there back in 2000 or 2001 if I remember. A guy named Steve with a 1st gen Taco and a spacer lift up front came in 2nd place in that event. He wheeled his Taco hard that time.

Went to Shilo one year and a Polar Norther blew in.
    Talk about COLD!!!
We had a Pop-Up camper at the time.
Used an entire can of propane the first night....still froze our Ass Off!!!
With the Beds being pullouts you might as well not have a heater at all!!
Put it up for sale when we got home and bought a hardshell camper.
