That's a very specific guess. I'd love to see these numbers with improved fuel economy. Might be wishful thinking tho.

A legit 20mpg average on a full trim 4x4 and 1750+ payload rating with a crew max and 6.5’ bed would be sweet.

If they made the new tundra like the landcruiser(without the price of a LC), I would buy it. The LC is a serious off-roader even though it’s big, solid rear axle while keeping the front IFS, has the same engine the tundra has with crawl control, turn assist which brakes the inside wheel for a tighter turn and a center locking diff. Put all of that and the other modern tech people cry about and the tundra would be a LC with a bed and maybe it would sell more.

totally fine with that! No matter what I'm getting a new tundra (sold my 17 and very upset about it, driving an Audi now) between the months of August-October. If we get confirmation of a drastic change I'll push for a larger discount on a 2019 or 2020.

Compare an entry-level Tundra's interior to an entry-level F-150's; they're not all that different in terms of quality and refinement.

Toyota does offer some of the modern tech features that you're yearning for (blind spot and lane-departure systems). However, they have been slow to fully jump on the tech bandwagon because of that stuff is unproven over the long run, increases cost and potentially decreases reliability. Toyota has updated the Tundra in small, but meaningful, ways: larger fuel tank; integrated brake controller; adjustable head lights. Toyota will surely add more features over time, but they will be deliberate in doing so to ensure reliability is maintained. And I, for one, am glad they take that approach.

That aside, I would like to see a higher payload and rear diff locker on the next gen Tundra. Coil suspension in the rear isn't needed; leafs work well for truck applications and are easier to modulate for specific loads. 8 and 10 speed transmissions offer a whole lot of complexity for very little reward; how much better fuel economy do the F-150's and Silverado's get with those added gears? Not much according to fuelly.

If you want the latest and greatest in comfort features and tech, get a F-150 or Silverado. If you want a truck that rides and handles like a truck, get a Tundra or 3/4 ton.

I have blind spot, auto braking, lane departure, etc on a new Nissan Armada. They are all annoying features in the winter because the sensors get blocked by the snow and salt. I can do without that tech. However, a good 8 speed transmission makes a vehicle feel more responsive, it’s not just for better mpg. My Tundra averages 13 mpg. My friends f-150 averages 16, and he’s the one with the lift and big tires. The turbo 6 and transmission make a difference for mpg (along with the lower weight - aluminum body). No doubt the Tundra is more reliable. But I can assure you that the interior of his ford is much nicer and it has a better ride with more payload capacity. If Toyota updates the transmission, puts some money into the interior, seriously upgrades the Entune system with CarPlay and android auto, and give us some more payload, it will be perfect. I don’t need a hybrid/electric tundra with a turbo 4 and aluminum body. But they’ll probably consider that for fuel economy and emissions requirements. A lot of the technology that gets us one step closer to driverless cars is useless for me and don’t belong in a truck.

6.5’ bed for crew max, better payload, and the option of either the 3.5 twin turbo or 5.0 v8 lexus engines. If I wanted luxury and more tech options, I’d go buy a luxury car.

Maybe the left side exhaust indicates a passengerside fuel tank to combat nascar lean...

Definitely looks like a 4 link read end they are covering up. Wouldnt be suprised to see an air bag setup for tow package trucks

I think they've got more to lose with the Taco so they're more responsive to it. The Tundra isn't trying to hold a number one spot so it doesn't get the love the way someone like Ford gives to the F150.

I doubt it, just going to be a mid cycle refresh I bet for the Tacoma. That truck is in the same boat as the Tundra, the platform needs a redesign. It's a very old platform, I'm suprised the truck sells as well as it does.

Because a lot of people just want a truck that works well. The chevy and ford are full of so many stupid features and complications.

I'm not just talking features, I could care less about that stuff. I'm talking things like chassis improvements. The taco chassis goes back to 05. Tacoma needs help in the payload and towing department, it's just not good at those two aspects. I would say add a brake controller but toyota hasn't even figured that out for the tundra yet.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Question,

Does anyone else on here get emails from Toyota on a monthly basis for input?

Just last week Toyota wanted to know feedback on locking fuel doors, how I like to access the bed. They showed pics of the GMC multi use tailgate.

Maybe the covered up back end is going to be a multi use tailgate?

I hope they don't go the route of that multi use gate, way to many moving parts. They just need some kind of built in step in the bumper or bed side, one of the things I really miss about my 2014 Silverado. Gm has a great design on that rear bumper, its simple and works great.
