A little of this and a little of that.

I plan on keeping mine until it dies, which could be a while

I’m keeping mine for a long too. I stopped buying stuff because the little kid inside told me to. The adult chose this truck, but the kid inside is happy with it as well. That’s like the best of both worlds!

Coils in the rear, 6' bed crew max, and oh maybe 400+ hp would get me back into a tundra.... as long as it's not fugly like a Nissan Titan.

Keep in mind that large portions if not all of the body could be from the old model and just the drive train and under carriage is new.

I honestly think (hope) those are placeholders. Given that they have LED's out now I think it would be a very bad decision to go backwards in headlight technology.

I am always driving in Sequential shift mode because I hate the way our tranny's shift now. Add more gears and that will definitely add more disappointment to the shiftuation

The way a transmission shifts and responds has a lot to do with the mapping of the software. There are many great vehicles out there with 8 speed transmissions that shift and drive very well. In fact, having more gears spaced out more evenly can improve driving feel. Right now, Toyota maps the transmission to go into the highest gear as quickly as possible to try to eke out more mpg. If there were more gears with better spacing, the mapping can be done to get the right gear for the right situation and still improve mpg.
I don't think anyone on this forum looks back at the wonderful driving characteristics of 3 & 4 speed autos of the 70's and 80's. Don't fight technological improvement. Instead, demand that Toyota gets the software mapping correct to take advantage of the available technology.

Anyone else notice the exhaust is out the driver side instead of the passenger side?

No exhaust on passenger side that I can see. On the driver side they removed some of the skirting so it wouldn’t melt

Personally I would prefer the exhaust came out the driver side. That way I could hear my sweet dirtydeeds mufflers even more!

The extra gears will be added between the 1st gear and 6th gear and not after the 6th gear. They may tweak 1st gear ratio to be a bit lower and last gear ratio to be a bit higher. The rest of the gear goes in between.

Looks like a legacy build and retrofit of a battery pack for electrification. Seems just as plausible as the speculation within this article.
