I was wondering if we can add Toyota Sensors to a travel trailer to be read on the truck when towing? I see other trucks have this ability and I was curious if that was a new feature with the 3rd gens since from what I can tell the older gens couldnt.

I don’t know if it can be done with the Tundra directly, but I have an aftermarket Tire Minder set (which I got when I was towing with my Tacoma) which monitors the trailer tires and reports to my phone and can put the display on the big screen with CarPlay.

That would be awesome but somehow I doubt it.

On my TST TPMS for the trailer you can add sensors so the tow vehicle will display on the TST dedicated monitor, but I'd be VERY surprised if you could go the other way since they'd have to be integrated into the OBD or canbus.

Too bad, that'd be super cool if I could get the trailer on the big screen.

    Lots of stuff!
I have a TST set on the Airstream. It was okay with the Tundra and needed the repeater so the signal would get into the cab and display on the screen. The TST screen is nice, small and wireless so you can charge it up and put it anywhere to view the pressures.

I switched the trailer wheel valve stems to metal as the TST are big caps that sit on the valve stems and can rock back and forth causing the rubber stems to wear and eventually fail. I have used this system for about 3 years now and it makes a difference in knowing where your pressures are. My single axle trailer doesn't have added protection of a second wheel if I loose one, I have just the rim and shrapnel from the tire so knowing helps me to slow down before destroying the trailer.

The new truck has TPMS for the trailer I just have to install the supplied valves into the wheels. There is a lot of "trailering" focus with these bigger trucks. Cameras, TPMS, Sway control, and maybe more to make trailering less of white knuckle experience.

I think some of this tech should appear in the newer Tundras and Sequoias.

A cheap option is to use an aftermarket tpms system for trailers. There are some systems that use your phone to display your tire pressures but I was worried about screen burn in. I found a tpms system on Amazon that work well. It plugs into the 12V outlet and is constantly monitoring. I tested it and it would read around 40’ front the truck. Best part, it was only $40 bucks.

I use this one and it seems to work really well. I normally take the monitor out of the truck and bring it with me when I check camper tire pressure. Within about 3 seconds after removing sensor from valve stem I get a zero pressure alert. Furthermore, after a long downhill decent to our normal campsite with numerous brake applications I will get a 100 degree over temperature warning about 15-30 minutes after we park wich is normal for brake heating after last brake application.Screenshot_20250517_151137_Amazon Shopping.jpg

This is what I have but I bought the repeater. Having the temperature does little good since it's measuring more surrounding air temperature than actual tire temps.

That’s the same manufacturer as the one I posted. If you look close you can see the sensors are the same. I didn’t want the solar power one but wanted 12V to the monitor constantly through the 12V socket.

Do you have a link to the compatible repeater?

Ya, that's why I got the heat gun now. When I repacked the wheel bearings and adjusted the brakes I got a little aggressive on the left side star clicks. Within a few minutes of parking the left side over temperature buzzer went off and was physically hotter than the right.

Ours came with repeater but Amazon sells repeater separately.
Another pro tip from an amateur ... if you store the unused sensors in camper, remove the batteries. Kind of disconcerting when a zero pressure alarm goes off while driving then figuring out that it's a sensor not in use.Screenshot_20250517_171108_Amazon Shopping.jpg
