Here's a fairly uncommon vehicle I found during my travels today; No, it's NOT a Smart ForTwo!

This is a 2013 Scion IQ, which in Consumer Reports testing proved is an all around better car than the original Smart car, but being reliable did not sell well once the novelty wore off; This is one of only two of I've taken pictures of for my stalking thread!

I spotted this one in the parking lot at work, and I initially thought it was painted or wrapped to look like an Air Jordan sneaker or just a tribute to a certain very famous basketball player; Turns out there's actually a Philly area realtor who shares his name with that very famous basketball player!

For the record, I did know that non-turbo 1993-1998 Supras could be had with a 4-speed automatic transmission, but I am pretty sure that this is the first slushbox twin-turbo Supra that I have ever seen!

I was at Thompson Toyota accompanying a friend who was looking to buy a new Corolla Cross, and this beauty was on the showroom floor; This 1993 Supra is part of the massive collection owned by the late Jack Thompson, along with the 2000GT that is still in a the showroom. It is 100% stock and I'm pretty sure that it has insanely low miles...

I don't know what the MSRP for a brand new Corolla LE is off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure it's was nowhere near what this dealer is asking for this car...

No dealer warranty, but this one is a CPO so it probably has a decent warranty from Toyota that's good nationwide...

 

Sharp-looking car, especially with those wheels, but almost $30K (Probably exactly $30K with tax, tags, title, etc) for a base model Corolla with almost 30K miles!

 

$23K for a 2018 LE with almost 45K miles...

 

And the wheel covers look like they're from a 1998 Plymouth Breeze...

 

I'd say this is a better deal than the "Stormtrooper" 2020 LE, as it is a higher-end SE model with about 14K fewer miles of the same year for almost the same price, but still overpriced...

And another 2020 SE, with 21K miles, for what would have been new Camry money a year ago...

 

At Thompson Toyota, still overpriced but not as outrageous; 2019 Corolla LE with lower miles than the 2018 for less than $21K...

Yeah, I’d buy a civic over a Corolla any day of the week.

 

prices are insane...


im just waiting for the new corolla GR. if that sucker tickles my fancy i might finally bite the bullet and buy new.. retire the 09 corolla and put the 06 avalon on winter duties.

You can drop a 1947-1954 Chevy bullnose pickup body on a 1998-2003 Chevy S-10 frame, and utilize the running gear; Even though an S-10 would have to pass a smog test in California every two years, a 1950s truck body on a newer chassis/drivetrain would retain the title of the 1950s truck and thus be exempt from emissions testing everywhere!

 

Is a GR the same as an Apex?

 

3-cylinder?!?! Better in a Toyota Corolla than in a Ford Bronco Sport; I just found out last night that the standard 1.5L turbo engine in the Bronco Sport is actually a 3-cylinder! Will the GR at least be available with a manual transmission?

 

It is insanity everywhere. My girl bought a 2019 Corolla SE with 3,000 miles on it for under $16k a couple years ago. I know the 2020+ are a new generation and nicer (I suppose), but still. I sincerely do not know why anyone would buy damn near anything currently.

 

Whoever buys those for advertised prices, gets what they deserve. I helped my assistant purchase a 2022 Corolla LE new last month for $200 below MSRP at the dealer. She got the military rebate on top of it, so all in all, happy about the $700 off and picked the color and interior her son wanted. Waited 10 days for it to arrive, and received SET financing at 2.35 for 72 months. While I wasn't thrilled, they were very happy and considering how things are presently for those need a car, I get it.
