I was at the local Toyota dealer getting what I hope will be my last "post-frame replacement adjustment" done; I stepped into the showroom after wandering the lot for a bit and found this beauty!

The quintessential 90s commuter appliance; A beige 1998 Corolla CE! The inspection expired in May, and it definitely looks like it's been sitting awhile, but I am sad to say that this is not the worst looking 1990s Corolla I've seen...

The car is pretty well-equipped for a base model; It has A/C, an automatic transmission, AM/FM cassette, tilt steering, and even what appears to be factory cruise control (or at least dealer-installed OEM cruise control). The car has intermittent wipers, but only one preset intermittent speed an no variable-speed function; No idea what the story behind the car is, but I'm guessing it belongs to a dealer employee and while it probably runs and drives, something expensive broke that caused it to fail inspection

Normally I don't post pictures of brand new non-truck Toyotas unless they customized or otherwise unique in some way, but this 2022 Corolla SE has a 6-speed manual transmission!

This would be my wife's next car if I could convince her to learn to drive standard.

 

I thought you Canadians were more into the art of the third pedal than us Americans?

 

I know a lot of people personally who like manuals, including my dad, one of my brothers, my brother-in-law and a few friends. However, I don't know if on average Canadians are more into it than Americans or not.

My dad couldn't get a manual transmission version of his current car when he bought it in early 2019 so he has two automatics in his garage for the first time since he bought his first car in 1976.

I like the 1995-1998 Avalon (which is what this one is) a lot better than the 1999-2005 model in terms of looks; Also, seeing as the newest 1st Gen Avalons are now approaching 25 years old as of this post, they are getting harder and harder to come by in decent condition! Note how both of the running lights are removed on this car; I have a feeling the owner is in the process of rehabbing it...

I miss my 06. She was a wonderful car 880k of pretty much trouble free miles.

 

880K miles?!?! That's not kilometers...?

Holy shit, dude! What do you do for a living where you put that many miles on a Corolla?!?! There is a woman from the Midwest who put a million miles on her late model Hyundai Elantra transporting car parts...

 

My father drove it to work 170 mile round trip a day every day

 

What happened to it?

 

Last year a car decided breaking down in the middle of the highway during rush out and parking there was a good idea. 75mph into a infinity will end a car.

still tan though. Axle shoved through the engine block. Ran like a top though

 

It still ran after that?!?!
