Mine just shipped. Glad it didn’t get canceled. Modern Toyota had free nationwide shipping. $525 shipped.

Installing my hooks this weekend. Would removing/loosening the lower mustache on each side make the side tabs come easier?

I went underneath last night and see how the bottom and top tabs pop out and was very simple. The sides do look wedged in there. From a video I watched the side tabs are between the fascia coming out and the bottom mustache.

How long did it take those who have installed the kit to remove those side tabs?

how did you trim the side tabs? Snip the middle or snip everything exposed from the back side? I may just do this because there are like 20 other tabs lol

I just pulled the valance cover off by bending the middle section out first. The pop off one side then the other came right off. I trimmed the two tabs after the valance was off before putting it back on. You could also just use a screw drive and break them off from behind I would think.

Yeah with all those tabs the valance is NOT going anywhere.

    Good luck!

I did the same...bent it and slid out. Clip tabs off before re-installing and Bob's your uncle

Thanks fellas! Makes me feel like I can knock it out even faster now.

Do you guys think if I snip them with dikes from behind will work?

the kit comes with a new valance so I don’t think I’ll ever go back to stock unless I sell the truck.

IDK if it'll make removing any easier...its a must for reinstall w/o removing the front end though.

    Do it

So I got bored and decided to pop that lower trim while I patiently wait for FEDEX lol. I was surprised… Popped right off. Took 2 minutes lol. Hopefully that was the hardest part of the install.

Here’s a pic of the tab snipped off the old trim. Going to do the same to the new one. Appreciate all the advice!

For me, it was. Took me around 30 minutes to take original panel off. My truck has air dam, that wasn't helping. Bolt on part was easy. Installing new panel took around 10 minutes, mostly trying to put side tabs in place. Weather was hot, I guess it helped as plastic was flexible enough. I didn't cut anything.

I installed mine yesterday and did not cut off any tabs (or cut anything). The two body-colored blocks at the bottom of the mustache / either side of the popped off fine for me. I did not take them off fully to pop the new piece in. I think it helps to have a lot of light beneath vehicle so you can see and release tabs as needed. Also, it seemed to me the tape was not necessary, as I just rotated the hooks as they went through the valance

My two mustache bottoms also popped out when I took the old valance off. I ended up not trimming the tabs on the new valance as well because they went right in. I also didn't use any tape.

It's just the TRD Pro version of the front light bezel. I actually prefer the flat black non-TRD version but couldn't find in stock anywhere

Just finished installing the recovery points on my 2022 TRD 4wd crewmax.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread on their experience with the kit, especially lavey and Chad 47. The posts from those who have installed the kit were really helpful in understanding what actually needs to be removed and trimmed, or not.

My experience was that I did not need to trim anything. Neither the lower valance nor the air dam required any trimming. I mounted the new pieces and left them slightly loose, then I held up the new valance, centered the mounts, and tightened the mounting bolts. I had plenty of clearance to the bottom plastic piece that backs up the lower valance. Their was no interference with the air dam.

I used a pair of ramps to raise the front end up for easy roll around access underneath.

As others have reported, I also did not have to remove any panels other than the lower valance. First, I removed the two center 10mm air dam bolts, which allows the air dam to drop down. Then I removed the 10mm pivot bolts on each side of the air dam, and set it aside. After the air dam was removed, I was able to remove the two phillips head screws in the trim on either side, and then I gently disengaged each corner plastic. Each one loosened pretty easily. I didn't remove them, just flexed them out of the way when removing the valance. The valance was held in place with little clips along the bottom, side, and top edges. After I got the bottom and sides released, I could reach up and release the top edge, and remove the valance. Last, I removed the 4 bolts holding the bottom cover under the oil pan (I don't have a bash plate).

Mounting the new components was easy. Do as the instructions say and support the center of the sway bar with a floor jack and it will be easy to remove and replace the mounting bracket bolts on either side.

The only quirk I saw in the instructions was the inclusion of 8 "extra" washers. They are not called out in the parts list, but the instructions have a reference to including them in mounting the new bracket for the hooks to the bumper bracket.

Installing the kit didn't require any special tools. I used a ratchet, power ratchet, and impact gun and a torque wrench. I think I used 10, 12, 14, 16, and 17 mm sockets, long and short phillips screwdrivers, and a long flat blade screwdriver and pair of pliers to bend the tabs on the front of the sway bar mounting bracket out of the way.

I was kind of dreading this install as I did not have any prior experience with the front end plastics. It wasn't that bad. All in all, it took about 2.5 hours start to finish.

It took less than a half hour to figure the mounting out and remove the existing valance. Next time, it would take about 10 minutes.

The first set of recovery point mounting bits took about 15 minutes to install as I figured out what went where. For the pieces which have a left and right, they are marked LH and RH for easy identification. The second set took about 5 minutes.

Replacing the plastics was pretty easy. Be sure to get the corners of the new valance behind the corner pieces prior to reseating those. I ended up losing one clip from a corner when I tried to bend it a little too far, but there are lots of clips, and this one will not be missed.

I like this kit much better than any of the aftermarket alternatives I looked at. The pieces are substantial castings, and the front valance looks great. The kit replaces the sway bar mounts with a substantial casting. The recovery point is a heavy casting that "hooks" over the new front bolt of the new sway bar mount, and has further support from the replacement bumper backer to frame bracket (see pic below). Be sure to put the black washer on this bolt when mounting. The "D" rings are substantial pieces as well. I won't be letting them dangle out front, but if I ever need them, I'll attach them.

All in all, not a bad job and does exactly what I want - provides a secure set of points to hook onto should I ever need to pull, or be pulled.

After installing this on my 2023 Limited, I’m bummed it will NOT work on my 2024 Platinum with the Factory 3” lift.

Got the kit installed while the truck was in for heart surgery.

holy they didn’t mess around with the shackles. I’ll probably opt for the Reno ones others here have done.

now I just need to figure out the license plate. Unfortunately need it where I live. may try the 3d printed one shared on the forum.

My kit will arrive today, when I get home and open it I'm bringing to my local paint shop to get the valance done.
Hopefully it will be only a couple of days and then it's off for a layer of PPF and when it's all said and done I can do the install and swap...
    Super stoked can't wait.

The OEM brackets and bolts are designed for the stock height - not for lifted trucks. They won’t work on the TRD OEM lifted model.

Do we just need longer bolts if we have a swaybar drop kit?
