For my ES, it's $32/mo if you want every feature. The voice nav is the only one I'd pay for/use tho.

I posted in the other key fob thread that seemed to get deleted for some reason. a video of a dealer explaining why NO the key fob will not stop working without the subscription. Idk what to believe but he pointed to a Toyota webpage that explained it as-well.

SOS just told me I'm SOL because I don't have the service activated, and to call a phone number.

Anyone have any leads on where it is so we can unplug it

Flagging for Mods to merge into the thread my post was merged into.

Screenshots have been shared as to exactly the term and type of data collected (and also the loss of the fob functionality) for between 4 and 15 years.

There are threads currently going on in both the tacoma and 4runner forums discussing methods to disable, actively in work. They seem to care about it as much or more than this thread.

Not the FOB I thought, just the AUTO START.

I don’t pay anything extra to use UConnect at all only if I want Guardian services which is the app through your cell phone .

Haha, in addition to ownership of Toyota vehicles, we also have a 2500 HD and Yukon AT4. OnStar for both of those vehicles is well north of $80/month, let alone $80 per year. We had a choice to pay for it or not, and choose to.....

As long as they can connect to your vehicle, they can charge for what they want.

    Pretty things
Not quite what I got from that...

They say it was an oversight and will "see what they can do to separate subscription and remote start"

Also backing themselves up with "we never technically sold you that feature on your remote"...in the US...even tho everybody knows about it

Shady and kinda sad. I dont see them giving up pursuit of as many subscription based features as they can possibly swing.

I believe all your trucks info on 2020+ models is being sent via the shark fin antenna that also houses fm/am & radioxm.

Removing the shark fin antenna might disable toyota receiving truck info but then you’ll lose out on xm, am/fm radio, which i never use anyway.
