Just need to filter out the nonsense, which is typical for any forum online. I just joined but from what I've seen this is a great community.

I saw you drive for a living and went with the 1794. Do you use the Tundra for work? Either way, the 1794 the most expensive model, isn't it? $ 53,000 MSRP. Successful business or not, that's a hard pill to swallow for a depreciating asset.

The thing is, you might be having buyer's remorse now, but if you keep that truck for 10+ years you'll likely fall in love with it.

The thing with the 1794 is you kind of have both - the flashy and the reliable car. If you keep it maintained and keep feeding it gas, I'm sure you'll like it more and more as time goes on.

Being of the female persuasion, this is EXACTLY why women aren't taken seriously so much of the time. Who comes to a Tundra forum w/a first post that bashes the Tundra? I mean jeez lady, think about it! P.S. I love my Tundra, it does EXACTLY what I bought it for!!

being in a tundra forum is exactly that. You don’t have to absolutely love the tundra to be in the forum. People come to the forum with questions, suggestions, opinions, etc. I am aware that every vehicle has their pros and cons to them. I put 10 years of mileage on a vehicle in two years. Therefore I think I have pretty good insight on vehicles.

Yes, I tend to get the high end top-of-the-line vehicles Because I do spend so much time in them. It only cost a little bit extra to go first class. Like I said, there are things I both like and dislike about the tundra.

I'm not sure if section 179 has changed in the last few years but if it is still what it was a few years ago she can maybe able write off the entire truck and take an accelerated depression write-off on it as well.

In all honesty, I have no qualms about what I paid for the truck. Reliability is a must in my profession. Toyota is definitely reliable. I will mileage out the truck in a heartbeat. When I am finished with a vehicle there’s literally no resale value on it because of the mileage. LOL the vehicle will still look brand new but it will have a ton of mileage and idling hours on it when I’m finished

As @BTBAKER said, we usually get first posts that are trolls trying to elicit negative reactions from it's members; nothing personal. It is a welcoming forum and member go out of their way to help each other; I've seen it first hand. For an example of what we mean check out this post:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/201...new-lemon-i-mean-tundra-i-snap-nipples.27290/

There are plenty of posts on the forum about complaints on the things you are talking about, so it's not new. Welcome again and please give the forum a chance.

Well, since the OP is actually posting.....

I agree with you. I think that Toyota has dropped the ball with the Tundra. My personal experience with my '13 has not been that great. Unlike a previous poster mentioned - I don't like it more the longer I have it. Kind of the opposite, actually. I look at it every morning and wish it was more. More reliable, more capable, better looking, you name it. I think part of it is new truck fever, as I have decided that I am going to upgrade to a heavy duty this year, so I have sort of written this truck off already.

There are some pros to the Tundra for sure. Roomy as hell, good power, good acceleration, sliding rear window is awesome, and it was cheaper than others when I bought mine. Most will chime in with good reliability - but that hasn't been my experience.

You are right, you probably do have a lot of insight but that is not my point. As I mentioned earlier, your first post would have probably been better received had you taken the time to introduce yourself, maybe posted a pic of your truck and stated something positive the first go round instead of bashing Toyota and the Tundra. I think many of us tend to be a little protective of our trucks and coming in w/such negativity tends to turn people off. You know, it's not what you say, but how you say it kinda thing.

Wait...you lobbed a grenade for your first post with absolutely zero detail and didn't respond until post 123? Yeah...that's asking to be bashed on any internet forum. Now that you've responded this can become a meaningful discussion. My take on it is...everyone of your gripes is well documented all over the Internet and you are certainly not alone. That said, I knew about everyone of those gripes prior to buying. It's not a perfect truck, it's probably not the best truck, many trucks do many things better than the Tundra but it's 13 years old and none of it's limitations are new. Caveat emptor for all major purchases...especially a work vehicle you spend so much time in!

Good on you for coming back and clarifying. As others have said, most of the 1-post bashing is just some idiot trying to troll.

Maybe it's a leather thing? I have cloth and have driven from Prescott, AZ to OKC, OK in a day a few times now and didn't have any comfort issues. That being said, I get out every 2-3 hours to stretch, refuel, get some more tea, use the bathroom, etc.

I think this must be personal preference. I don't even have the JBL system and I think it sounds fine. I've heard some of the upgraded systems and they are for sure louder, somewhat clearer and have more bass, but it's not something I can justify spending $1k+ on to improve.

I've heard others complain about this, but this has not been my experience. I have two large huskies that bounce around between the back windows and don't have a single scratch on the plastic. I'm curious what plastic is scratching easily for those that have scratches?

Agreed. I installed some in mine. I think the DC's may have had that option at some point though?

I have a 2017 SR5 and mine does, so yours should too. Consult the manual.

Doing way better than I am lol.

The Pop & Lock version is really easy to install. Highly recommended.

    Welcome to the forum!

I returned to reply when I was able to. Yes, possibly it is a leather thing. You may be correct. But I do enjoy the leather interiors and generally get the high-end vehicles That have leather interiors

125,000 miles in a bit over a year with zero mechanical issues and you’re complaining about the plastic scratching.

i get that mileage the first year with every vehicle I’ve owned. No mechanical issues with any of them on the first 100,000. I keep up on all the preventive maintenance. Pm is very important. Can’t just run a vehicle into the ground and expect it to serve you well.

Not sure i understand the question. Dropped the ball in what way? Do you not like the ride quality? Are you not happy with the interior materials? Do you not like the fit and finish? Are you unhappy with the stereo?

I put 24K miles on my vehicles each year. I have several so it doesnt seem like a lot. The Tundra has about 46K on it for 5 years of driving. But its been a great truck.

No ball dropped yet. The rumors of a twin turbo V6 gives me pause. Kinda Ford esq.
I hope they keep the V8 as an option. This engine could be boosted to 400 to 420 HP fairly easy. These trucks are too heavy for a V6. My .$02

I have heard rumors about a diesel engine in the future. Has anyone else heard this?
