Does your husband own an 07 tundra that he hates because he’s had to do preventative maintenance to it?

There's something old-school and commendable about the Tundra. At least to me, it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a solid pickup truck.

    Nope. And I came from a 2005 Sienna to a 2019 Tundra.

    NO.
Tundra would not have the reputation and resale value that it has if Toyota had dropped the ball.

What way? Toyota doesn't sell balls, just automobiles.

Hopefully you can construct an objective statement next time, oh I forgot you're only a Professional Driver.

OP must have been a troll. He dropped a vague and uninformed post, then... crickets.

Either that or he didn't get the response he wanted, and was hurt in the feels.

This is the proper technique for a Ball Drop.

Yes, the OP is horribly vague in his statement, but where has Toyota dropped the ball with the Tundra? Let's see...

    1) Failing to update a gas pig of an engine/transmission combo in any significant way for a decade.

    2) Refusing to acknowledge ongoing problems with seeping/leaking cam tower gaskets.

    3) Falling years behind other manufacturers in terms of electronics, infotainment (Entune - really??) and interior materials.

    4) Not bringing any new features to market.. I'm thinking about cool things like RAMbox and under-floor storage.

I'm at work or I'd keep going. Point is, our reliable powertrain is not without faults, and it's also not an excuse for Toyota's piss-poor efforts at offering new value to customers with each model year.

I adore my Tundra. You'd have to pry my keys from my cold dead hands. But let's all get off our high horses here. It's not a segment leader and hasn't been for a while.

It all depends on what characteristics you value most in a truck. My top factor was reliability. Now my d@mn cam tower is weeping.

    So much for that.

...and yet there is still something compelling about the truck that keeps attracting new buyers. If the latest and greatest is what you want then you're absolutely correct but if that's the case it's not that Toyota dropped the ball...it's more like you just bought the wrong truck. This truck doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is....

Agree with pretty much all that, its not a perfect truck by any means. The fact that Toyota rakes in profit on these trucks and doesn't reinvest it is pretty infuriating...I really don't think they care about the truck segment.

Telling yourself perceived reliability is greater then all the Tundra's short comings equal a new buyer. I was one of those and the Tundra has needed more repairs then any truck I've ever owned. Yes resale is high but other things cost more that kind of make that a wash, like fore me the Tundra carries a higher property tax each year. Others have had great success with Tundra's, I just haven't seen it.

There's a lot of kool-aid to be drank here.. :) but yes, I do. I know I will probably get a public flogging for this but who cares, yes the engine and it maybe reliable but if you're truly comparing dollar for dollar against another same trim truck I would say they did.

    that's my opinion.

Brave to get on this forum and state you don’t like your tundra. Sounds like you needed to post this on a ford forum.

Nothing is perfect and I'm not expecting perfection. Having owned Acura, Honda, Lexus, Toyota, Subaru, Audi, Mazda, and Volvos in the past the only vehicle that ever needed warranty repair was a 2018 Pilot. Maybe it's just the very easy 6-8K mile per year I put on vehicles, I don't know, but this will likely be gone before it ever becomes a problem.

I got a laugh out of this since I never saw mine in person or drove it until it was dropped off at my house. The sales manager at the dealership I bought it from (about 90 miles away from my house) is a personal friend so I trusted that what he told me about the truck was true and it was.

And to get back on topic .. no I think this truck is the extra most bestest truck ever.
