Whatever this forum told me to do
I can assure you this won't happen.

at best, you will get 60% of a trans cooler.

    at best.

I think the court will force them to install the trans cooler, because it throws into question the validity of the maroney sticker for all future buyers of these vehicles.

    I hope you are right.

but, if that were the remedy, then how do the lawyer fees get covered?

jack up the award to cover them?

If I am reading this correctly, you are going to have to prove damages, or at least the prospect of damages, in order to collect anything. I haven't had one issue with my transmission but I sure would like the cooler installed......especially with camping / towing season underway. I signed up for the initial inquiry but not sure I want to move forward if that's the case.

    Good luck with that..
I see a payout settlement, the attorneys get 40% plus expenses.
What is left over won't be $1500 to $2000 for each of you.
    You'll be lucky to $100.:(

The law firm is in it for themselves and their share, they really don't expect Toyota to install trans coolers in every Tundra listed in this case.
As @shawn474 stated, you'll have to show and prove damages.

How many of you actually have your original OEM window sticker?
The one that came on the truck, not the one you bought online for $10.

I actually have my original sticker which states that I have a transmission cooler........which I guess i technically do even though its the puck. I don't think I will win that argument with Toyota engineers never had to been to engineering school and all......

So technically it has a transmission cooler?
Just not the detached cooler in previous models?

If you have a tow package, you already have a transmission cooler.
    Is that not correct?

    Change what?
What type of transmission cooler it had?

My 2014 just reads, trans oil cooler.
    It doesn't go into detail..

    I'm just trying to understand..

Best veteran lawyers here in Denver is Bell & Pollock. Hands down. They only wanted 30% after my health insurance cut. Most shyster lawyers on TV ads want 40%. Not worth my time. Cooler suit won't go anywhere. LOL

    sorta kinda

it’s more of a trans heater.

I say that from a position of end user

I guess under heavy loads it will sorta kinda cool the transmission

So is that the basis of the lawsuit?
Toyota calls it a trans oil cooler, but it doesn't cool trans oil?

Just got an email back from the law firm bringing the suit wanting me to sign up for the class action. Basically says if the compensation is non-monetary (Toyota offers to install trans coolers for affected owners instead of giving owners $$) then you have to pay the Law firm 40% of the value of the offered repairs out of pocket to them to cover the court costs.

    It can cool the transmission

but it’s my contention that it only heats the transmission

I am not smart enough to know the technical jargon - what I have been able to decipher is Toyota did away with the separate transmission cooler in 2018 I think. They put in a heat exchanger or puck that some have hypothesized led to or would lead to inappropriate cooling of the transmission and cause failures. Especially those who tow. So there is TECHNICALLY something that cools the transmission whether by direct cooling or heat exchange…….

or I could be totally wrong.

I remember the exchanger puck was added in 2018 for some reason i thought it was changed again in 2020.

The heat exchanger is still a cooler even if it is not as good of a cooler as a real one. The water temp is around 191-194, even with a traditional cooler the trans is around 203 on the highway.
