I don't use the Toyota app on my phone much. Just ran an update and I took a look at the app just to see if there was anything new. I know Drive Pulse isn't new, but I took notice of it and just wondered what others are getting?

I tend to drive my Tundra pretty easy. Overall score currently is 99, with 0 fast acceleration, 2 harsh cornering, and 4 harsh braking.

OME Nitrocharger/2612 (front), Bilstein 5100s (rear). Vanguard roll bar modified (by me) to fit over Patriot Stealth retractable tonneau. Aftermarket halo headlights with HID, various LED bulb replacements. 17" Fuel Blitz wheels with some 33" Nitto terra grapplers. Hoodscoop, nfab nerfbars, Bushwacker flares. No-name aftermarket grille, led fender extensions. Black Horse bambi-basher. Various offroad lights.
Sounds like a fair excuse to get out of a ticket. Yes your honor, I ran over that peaceful protestor, I didn't want too but if I had swerved or slammed my brakes my Toyota score would have gone down.

I think what it’s telling me is that I shouldn’t get my insurance company’s app to qualify for a safe driving discount. lol

It’s so your insurance can jack up your rates if you floor it to much. The insurance companies are all going to try and do this and it should be resisted as much as possible.

Just got a Volkswagon Jetta with this, it's my gas saver/I rent it out on Turo. I find funny that my score is in the >80s on the days i'm in it and in the <50s when it's rented. But, to be fair the app considers above 80MPH high speed and most renters take it on the interstate. The GPS and remote lock/unlock is nice for renting it out.

You smoke too much weed. It’s not a plot to raise your insurance. New trucks do however have a black box and likely can be used to gather information. I have insurance beacons in my RAV4 and have one for my tundra. Also tracked in an employer owned vehicle. It keeps me honest and not one of the jack bags that does drive erratically

So you think they added this feature just so you can have a cool driving score that makes you feel better about your driving? Get a clue bud they aren’t offering to track your driving bc it makes them feel warm inside.

It's trying to get people to drive safer AND it's also something toyota uses when determining their 'per-mile' usage based insurance.

With how little some of us are driving it's actually not a bad idea to at least look at it - pay base per day and then $0.0x per mile driven. You may save money.

They're tracking you on your phone already what's the difference with the car doing it too

Heck I've been giving just a bit of consideration to reverting back to a flip phone.

Ha I’m sure the new flip phones track you just as well as the smart phones.

Even on ham radio you’ll get tracked through aprs lmao (at least you can turn that off or use a radio without it)

I wonder if we can create a spreadsheet of scores and compare them to people who are stock VS those with pedal commanders

Haha, it's been a long time since I've worked on a rig - but my score would have been much lower for sure.

On my drive home from the Dealership I really babied it and feathered the brakes when stopping, and I still had 3 negative scores.

How do you turn this feature off?

I think you have to modify your truck to look like my 2019. It’s an expensive mod but it works.

You sure that disabled it? Maybe it's just giving you perpetual bad scores now.

Exactly! When we read "1984" we thought "Big Brother" was going to watch us through a network of cameras, never did we imagine that we would bring the products that spy on us into our lives willingly under the guise of convenience. Phones, Smart TVs, Insurance plug ins, Car safety apps, Smart home systems like Alexa, etc. all listen to us and track us on a second by second basis, all because we are lazy.

Let it ride on my new tundra for a couple months, got an email for better rates based on my score(95) and it was well above my current rate. I drive 500 miles a month and drive like a grandma until the Florida road rage kicks in. Not collecting data on me. Disabled and request to not collect data applied!
