FML. I am leaving in a bit to drive across town to a restaurant for a big family dinner for my MIL's 90th B-day. I don't like my MIL, hell her own kids don't like her.

On top of that, the wife has demanded I look "presentable". No tank top and sandals for me. The only saving grace is that she is driving and I have been pre-gaming for a couple of hours.

Sudafed knocks my ass out for days. Since I've been able to stay on my allergy med routine (the VA would swap out meds every now and again to try to save money), I haven't needed to do the Z-pac. Cedar is so bad this year that I think I'm getting an ear infection though.

She didn't say anything about pants, so you can still protest.

Sounds like I'm going out tonight to the sketchy side of town in this snow and cold to go pick up a couple aerogardens my wife bought on Marketplace.

Hahaha tanks and flops is what I consider “Tucson classy”

this one time at this normal restaurant we overheard people complaining at my attire, that it wasn’t classy enough for the establishment(old Pueblo grill) hahah we laughed, I may have walked out with a triple set of tapatio……

No shit. Right now I'm wearing what I usually have to wear for work, business casual, you know, button up shit, slacks, and real shoes.

    Fucking sucks.

My weird bro in law gets out of shit by saying he doesn’t like loud noises; goes outside by himself with a glass of wine.
Hahahahaha I love it because my kids aren’t the quietest of creatures!!!! I sit and watch his eye twitch, they will never have crotch fruit.

In the late 90's, when I got out of Broadcasting training and ended up at an AFN station in Germany, just about everybody either PCSed out or went into training. No station manager, it was basically only two broadcasters, two engineers, and some civilians that worked at the station. I was a Private First Class and I did the morning radio show and then was the TV news anchor. The other broadcaster was a Sergeant and he did the afternoon radio show and filmed me on the news. This went on for a month or two and so, as a reward, when everybody came back, the Sergeant I was with and I got to go to a TDY to Istanbul for something called a "Partnership for Peace" conference.

I was easily the lowest ranking American but the others had apparently liked my morning show so I was treated pretty well. Anyways, this Turkish General lived in a palace on whatever strait separates Istanbul. The conference was over and he invited everybody to his palace for a big dinner party. I didn't have anything because I was a poor Private. I had a dark green button down shirt, a crazy colored tie that I borrowed, khaki dress pants, and a cream colored blazer that I also borrowed. I forgot to bring dress shoes so one of the Sergeants let me borrow his motorcycle boots, complete with buckles.

I felt like an idiot but all of these Turks, Khakistanis, ect, would walk up, give me a thumbs up and say "Hollywood!" and "Tom Cruise!" (he was cool at that time). Cool experience.

I’m picturing a hippie kid about 8 or 9, living in a commune in northern cal wearing Birkenstocks, with bleached blonde hair…

Yeah, I looked exactly like what they thought an American would look like, I think. If you think about the movies and the music that was out then, my clothing matched up.

The other funny thing was that since I was a PFC, I had a Chevron with the half moon or whatever connecting it. Every other American was either a SGT or above or a Captain or above. I'd be walking around in my BDU's (I kept them pretty starched) with my shiny boots and all of these soldiers from other countries would be saluting me. Apparently they'd never been around any American as low ranking as I was and figured I was something special.

Pretty sure my mom was a berk-head. She had at least 20 pair when I was growing up.

Mamma bear pretty much did most of the work for the ribs, I just transferred and wrapped after the smoke. These were St Lewis, I think I might be a Baby Back fan? Also, I’m the worst at cutting ribs 4F17BDE8-DCC5-4366-A890-240800519A10.jpg
