I’ve been clamming the last couple days, got a piece of metal in my eye that started to rust, so I couldn’t play with knives…the biggest one is that 6” one in the bottom picture. Limited both Thursday and Friday

So this was on the floor of my brother's truck after he got his oil changed. Any thoughts as to what he should check to try to figure out what they might have been prying?

Supposedly it was to pry the cabin air filter out and they apparently want it back.

 

That's a pry bar. No idea why they would need one for an oil change. Only thing I can think of is they used it to knock off packed snow from the undercarriage.

 

That's logical. They wouldn't get it back though. It belongs to your brother now.

 

I would check the cabin air filter. It is a bit tricky to get the cover unclipped and get out of the glove box, but if the tech new what he was doing it shouldn’t have required that little pry bar. They could easily have broken some of the little plastic clips that snap it in place

 

Is it a skill thing or is it just faster to use the pry bar and thus they can get more trucks serviced in the same amount of time?

Edit: Looking at the pic of the prybar the console is different. What kind of truck is your brother's? The video I linked is for a '14+ Tundra so it may not be applicable.

 

He drives a 2019 Sierra.

 

Ah, then a pry bar might be warranted. I don't know how they have it set up.
