I think that is coming for me next year.
The only reason I have to get ON the roof is to run extension cords and to the very top peak of the roof edge.
I can't have an extension cord going across the front porch pathway. :eek2:
    I have issues.

I also have to get pretty high to do the peak over the front porch.
I usually put my 12ft ladder in the bed of my truck to reach it, the bed rug holds the ladder in place.
Going to try it in the bare bed tacoma and see if that works, I'm only on it for a few minutes.

The rest of the lights just run along the edge of the roof, using a 6-foot folding ladder.
Then there are the flowerbed border lights, I love on my arthritic knees...o_O

I'll say one thing, it's a lot easier to take them down than put them up.
    :D

One does not simply “walk” on a 12/12 roof…

My wife twenty years ago: I don’t like you working up high like that!!!

My wife now: Christmas lights on the roof please.

    .
Only difference; I have life insurance now.

Most houses out here are usually single story and “flat roof”
I don’t have anything on my roof but reefer lines and 2 solar panels, lots of room for activities!
I was lucky enough that the house had seamless tin gutters, now I just need to get down on some cisterns to hold “all” the rain we get.

I’d at least like to get our driveway poured since I work on the vehicles a lot. But I just get our front and backyard sprayed with pre-emerge from my uncle. And then I only have to pick or spray like 20 weeds a year vs my neighbors looking like a jungle! My recluse neighbor that has now moved; I’d be working in the gravel under the truck and another neighbor walking their dog passed by and gently asked me if the person living there was dead? I’m like nope, someone definitely lives there. C00E5B3F-5218-4F6F-A2D5-F2ACB71C8247.jpg

Spent the weekend building winter sides for my outdoor fireplace and pavilion. Used a lot of muscle I haven't used in a long time. I'm going to pay for it tomorrow. Now time for bourbon.

So what’s everyone smoking and eating for turkey day?
Tuesday I’m picking up a fresh bird from my guy, 9.5lbs. Then I’ll brine it with a kinders kit from wall-world. Then put a butter herb compound under the skin and smoke with hickory I’m thinking. Not sure if I want to start at 350 for most of the cook, or start low and work my way up as I get frustrated that it’s not cooking fast enough. Decisions decisions……..

I have Friday off, so I’m tempted to wake up early and go out for some dove; Feathery Friday.

I’ve got a turkey breast going on the smoker and a whole bird going in the fryer. Haven’t decided what I’m doing for rubs yet, but I should probably get on that… for the smoker, I usually just stick with 350 or the skin just gets weird.

    I hate weird skin…..
Explain the two different cooks? Picky eaters or just like the different flavors? Never fried one, but smoked one for the first time last year; yesterday bro in-law said that was the best bird he’s ever had.

Mostly just a variety, and my FIL loves turkey so he’ll take the leftovers… which is good, because I can’t stand it lol. Fried turkey is my favorite because of the crispy skin and the fried flavor it picks up, but the smoked stuff is a close second. I really wish I was more of a poultry guy, especially this time of year. Never been a fan of chicken or turkey. Would much rather do a brisket or ham.
