We chose BFE but Austin has been growing so much that it's already creeping in. I figured everybody was going West of Austin so we'd go East. We got lucky and got in cheap. Now Tesla is coming in and once people figure out the drive from Bastrop County into Austin and the airport isn't bad at all, this place is going to explode.

It’s not terrible, but we’d love to get land someday. Just not gonna be any time soon with the way the Phoenix market is going. It’s one of the reasons we’re considering moving back to Illinois. But we’re visiting for a week this winter and that should give us all the Nope we need to ditch that plan.

We have one of those super boxes but we don't have an HOA. I'm not really sure how I would tip our mailman short of running across the street like a weirdo while he's filling the boxes. I also don't know anything about him other than he drives an EcoBoost with a bad rattle at idle.

I'm not even really sure what to do for the family who delivers our (free) community newspaper. If I leave something in our mailbox, would they actually take it?

 

A few years ago, I totally called the cops on the news paper guy because I thought he was creepin in peoples yard, he’s had two different vehicles, both with terrible CV issues!! I even told my buddy who lives close, he’s like does he have the super noisy front end………

I like everyone, within reason, despite personal, religious, or political views..

I've never blocked anyone from this forum in my years here.
Can't say the same for the other Tundra forum I came here from and a few gun forums I have belonged or still belong to.

My buds wife hates her HOA director.
She literally walked into her office, told her to go to hell and slapped a $1000 cash on her desk
Basically, telling her to take fines out of that as needed.
They recently passed a new rule that children couldn’t ride their bikes in the cul-de-sac of a gated community.
Ridiculous.

 

See when it gets that ridiculous,
I’d look for loop holes, like does that include unicycles? Or what about Amish scooters? Or what if the gate was left open….. is that game on?

I wonder the same thing. I pay a good chunk of money every year in hoa dues, and I’ve been enjoying this view of my neighbors yard for the last year.



That pic is from a couple months ago. The only thing different now is they haven’t mowed since then.

 

All that being said…get this guy some more cool slaps for his work truck…maybe now ya need something in the lines of UPS or the brown

I think I told y'all this story, but it's timely and I'm forgetful... Our HOA winds up with about $280k in dues each year. There are laws and an HOA contract about how they can go about spending that, and fixing the yards of the neighbors of the HOA board, so the HOA board's property values won't slide due to their friends' negligence toward their lawn, is not among them. So that's what our HOA was going to do - - use about 10% of the neighborhood's yearly dues fixing their neighbor's lawns up real nice. Several of the neighbors had to point out IRS code, TX law, and our actual HOA contract to get them to relent. Not sure they're not going ahead anyway, just not telling anyone. And THAT's what an HOA is good for.

 

Lazy phucker needs a roof too.

 

We paid into an HOA for 10 years.
When we needed some neighborhood improvements, we, as a community, tried to get the HOA to take care of it.
It was then we found out the HOA was non-existent and over 1.2 million in fees were miraculously missing.
3 attorneys later… we have no recourse.
The initial developer was over the HOA and had gone under years previously.
Complete and total BS!
