Am I the only one that sees the irony that @ToyoMafia is now slapping stickers on the backs of his stickers before he sends them to us to slap on other things?

 

I’m going to have to admit, I failed to get TM slaps on anything at COTA.
I will pay my penance later.
The security for MotoGP and Covid protocols is much different than other times.

My bud that I went with, and got my passes, asked that I “behave”. Dammit.

When I wasn’t riding or training I was walking tracks taking pics.
Took my first shots in the 90s on a Nikon 28Ti.
Crazy to think that was over 23 years ago.

Pretty sure it’s the only track in the world that you can get that kind of shot.

Very nice! I have the R5 and have been playing with the RF100mm Macro. Got lucky a month ago and found a little camera shop in Michigan actually had it in stock. The R5 was a big step up from my old 60D.

 

COTA is just up the road from us. I really need to get out there. I've been in the parking lot a few times (my Special Olympics Bicycling Team event used to be held there before Covid) but have never actually gone to see a race. I'm putting that on the bucket list.

I have an EFS 18-55 macro I enjoy shooting with.
That RF100mm has got to be killer.

It's way more camera than I need but it's really amazing. I love that when you put it into manual focusing mode, it has a little visual area that tells you when it's in focus. Keeps me from getting lazy and using autofocus all of the time.
I bought the 100mm Macro because my dad gave me a bunch of my Grandfathers negatives dating back to the 1930's and I wanted to do some high quality scans with them so I can make some prints. I got a deal on a really nice Kaiser copy stand on eBay and have a pretty decent scanning setup.
But, yeah. I'm blown away by this camera and lens. When I'm at my other computer, I'll try to remember to post the


I used my setup to develop this negative of a selfie my grandad did back in the 1930's. His face was a little soft focused but it's a pretty kickass pic.

Those old negatives can be valuable.
I miss old school developing.

Id like to run some stuff I never developed from when I was young.
Thinking of putting together a small darkroom in the future.

Being able to get your hands on those negatives are priceless.

 

In high school, negatives were found in the lunchroom of a fellow classmate very scantily clad, if that. Prints were definitely made in the darkroom!

Thanks - my dad gave me the negatives a long time ago and I always wanted to scan them in but I didn't get a chance. I bought a cheap little Wolverine Scanner but the scans kind of sucked. Started researching digital darkrooms and saw that I needed a Macro lens. I was going to get the EF 100mm Macro and an adapter but then I figured I'd go all in and get the RF and I'm glad I did. That 1.4x magnification is awesome.

I was really hoping to fix the soft focus on my Grandad's selfie to send to my Uncles and my dad. Unfortunately, one of my Uncles passed away last Thursday so I kinda fucked that up. With the Wolverine Scanner, I was able to scan about 300 of the negatives and post them on a website so my Uncle was a least able to see them but I had really wanted to get a physical pic in his hand. Life's a bitch.

 

We had some racy pics that were taken on an old shoebox camera.
It wasn’t worth the trouble we got in in the darkroom at school.
