    I did good today! Had to buy some new clamps because I couldn't find mine (yes, I checked my nipples to nuts clamps and they are still in place). Lowes had a sale on a 4-pack of them so I can do some jigsawing tomorrow.

    Then we went to the local Walmart, which I hate. It's like they saw all of the most horrible Walmart memes and said "Yeah, we can beat that." It's not often you walk into a Walmart bathroom and see a big turd on the floor. I've seen it twice, on different days.

    By contrast, the next closest Walmart is in La Grange and you could eat off of the floors there (I've seen that at the other Walmart too... not saying it was the turd...).

    Anyways, I went to get a big ass package of Angel Soft because our downstairs plumbing is finicky and I'm a prolific wiper, when I met up with my wife, she said they just starting marking two big racks of garden stuff to a $1. I tried to hip check some nasty old lady but she wouldn't budge and she kinda the "Pig-Pen" bug jumping off thing going on. I wandered around to the other side of the rack and hooked up with 5 sprayers, a battery powered Miracle Gro plant sprayer, some ground clear, and 3 bottles of weed stop. $10!!!!

    It was totally worth the hour we stood in the checkout line and the Diphtheria shots I'm gonna need to get.

    It's worth it to me to spend more money to not shop at Walmart.

    Well, no fire. It turns on fine, but almost no sound. All speakers work and if I crank the gains it goes from hardly any sound to barely a bit more sound. So, it appears that I have wired it correctly, wonder if I just got a bad one.

    After messing with it a bit more, I do think that's what happened, a bad one. For reference, with the old Alpine amp set at maybe 1/3-1/2 gain I would listen to the radio at "6" volume on my way to work. If I wanted to shake windows, maybe low 30's. Right now, I set all the gains at max on the new Kenwood and for normal volume now was mid-20's and at max, 60+, would be somewhat bumping. (note that this Kenwood is rated quite a bit higher than the old Alpine).

    So, yeah, probably a bad amp. Good news is that I got it from Crutchfield and they have excellent customer service. Bad news is they are sold out of a lot of stuff, including this amp.
