That's relatively clean too :( I used to keep that table completely clean so I could weld without obstructions. Fargin' truck.

Yeah, my PS5 showed up in December having clearly been opened. On top of that, I walked out when the UPS driver was in front of my house. It really looked like he’d been getting ready to take it out of the package when I walked up on him. He was behind one of my trucks with the box on the ground, and seemed to be in a hurry to leave once he saw me.

I don’t think Ray will mind me telling this...

When he made my first knife, it got “lost” in the mail.
We were both heartbroken because of all his hard work and it was a bit of a collaborative effort.
    Basically, one of a kind.
We went through all the standard search procedures, with the both of us speaking directly to our local Postmaster.
We were told it was in Oregon, it was in Memphis and it could be in Atlanta.
I felt so bad for Ray because he puts his heart and soul into these instruments.
We both explained to the Postmaster that this was an irreplaceable heirloom.

After not hearing anything, Ray began forming a new knife for me.

After a few months Ray sent my new knife.

The day before my new knife showed up I received a notice from USPS that the knife was in route to the shipping destination.
Huh? Was it the first one or the second one?
    Certainly, this was a mistake.

    But, wait!
    It wasn’t.
The lost knife literally showed up the same day as the new knife.

    Crazy!

Ray, allowed me to chose the one I bonded with the most.
Fortunately, he was able to get one back.

Ray puts so much effort into his work and as an amateur craftsman myself, I feel his pain when one goes missing.

    Ray, @gosolo ,
I hope this one reappears as well.

Have you gotten to the point where you randomly clean a fender every now and then just for the satisfaction? Even when my trucks are dirty there’s usually at least one panel clean on them.

    Yes!!

My disciplinary task is letting my truck stay dirty for at least a day.
After hitting the mud yesterday, I’m starting to twitch a little.
Actually, lost a little sleep thinking about it.
I opened the door getting in this morning and there was mud clumped around the handle.
It took every bit of will I could muster to actually drive away without cleaning it.

I thought maybe you meant “randomly clean a fender”, like, when you are walking across a parking lot, you suddenly lose it and start cleaning some strangers car….

Ive been tempted. Have done it to my friends to annoy them though. I put some sealant on just one fender and part of the hood of a buddy’s truck just so it would bug him when it rained.

I ship primarily usps and have had pretty good luck considering how much I ship. For anything of real value I ship FedEx for me it’s worth the extra $10 FedEx does a much better job addressing issues.

the part I don’t get about this issue we are discussing is that the postal service provided the shipper with a box and they obviously messed it up somehow so they should do everything to make it right.

I've had this happen before, it actually came in a bag and clearly said something along the lines of "this item was damaged while being processed" I showed it to the company that sent it to me and they said it wasn't their problem because they did what they were paid to do which is ship the item. It's not their fault the item was lost in transit. Never did get my money back.

When FedEx dropped a brake caliper into the box containing my office chair, shredding the box, I contacted Steel Case and recommended they consider using a more professional shipping company and they didn't seem to care.

Yeah that’s BS if they shipped priority then it had some insurance on it. I’ve had problems with all of them but usps seems to have a very out of date tracking system lots of idk where the hell it is. I always replace orders lost by shippers if It’s something I can. Like I said I ship a lot so if I look at the averages everyone does a pretty damn good job.

A few here have had some things lost or really delayed. Most guys got them eventually. Only one comes to mind that never made it. I don’t do flat rate boxes anymore cause to tell you the truth they are more expensive unless the item is very heavy.

I did have a pack of slaps go from south Florida to Vermont to Massachusetts then back to Birmingham.
They got there but those slaps traveled some miles.

I think in that situation the shipping company needs to cover cost of lost goods.
It kills me how they just go. Oh well.
