I actually searched a few min for my prom pic where I’m sporting a pretty sweet mullet if I remember right. If I find it I’ll post it for the brave @Azblue

 

You'll have to do like the guys in the olden days before 4x4 and try reverse if you get stuck.

Though I agree with the sentiment, I cannot "like" that image.

 

Woke up that morning.
It felt like most mornings but something didn’t feel right.
Kissed my, soon to be wife, goodbye and headed out.
I had one sales call to make before heading into the office to fill in for my boss.
The sales call was a bud of mine that served.
Oddly enough, he had a funny feeling about the day as well.
It’s so weird how our thoughts and feelings can mesh together at times.
Headed on to the office and picked up some donuts for the office crew.
When I got to the office everyone was oddly quite but I just accounted it as being early.
I took the donuts into the break room and decide to turn on the local news.
It was 7:40am.
I called for the rest of the crew to come grab a donut.
6 minutes later, as we all stood there...

BREAKING: AN AIRCRAFT HAS CRASHED INTO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER

Our hearts dropped.
We were all in shock.
What kind of plane?
What was a plane even doing that low near the Trade Centers?
This is crazy!
Had to be an unexperienced pilot.
Still though.
Those kind of accidents just don’t happen.
Something isn’t right.


As we all stood dumbfounded and confused, it happened.
9:02
The second tower was struck.

This is not a fucking accident!
This is not right!

We are fucking being attacked!

As we watched in horror, all I could think about the loss of life happening in front of us and my fellow service brother’s that would be called up immediately.

As the reality of what was happening began to sink in, I felt such pain and anger.

I felt so broken and unsure.

I wanted to be able to help those fellow Americans.
I wanted to be there.
I wanted to give every ounce of my being to do something.
I wanted those responsible to pay dearly for their atrocities.

As that horrific day played out, we all felt so helpless, not to be able to do anything.

As the other planes were taken, The Pentagon then attacked and finally Flight 93 was forced down as Patriots tried to save it, the actions were unimaginable.

Never before!
Never again!
Never forget!

I hope that everyone can reflect on the events from 20 years ago, be thankful for what you have, hug your family and appreciate the times we have.

Without those that Serve, Serve and Protect or Serve to Conserve Life, none of the freedoms and life’s peaceful times would be possible.

Remember those that we lost.
Remember those that lived.
Remember those that afford us the possibilities.

Was just getting the Mafia crew in hoping to hear about some of you guys.

I apologize if I overstepped anything and can take it down if necessary.

 

No overstepping at all. I wasn't sure who all knew, and thought others may want to read the posts of members who don't frequent this thread. I don't think anyone is going to bitch about multiple threads on this topic. If they do, fuck 'em.

 

No Sir we are a crew and today is not the day for slaps or jokes. This is a day that we need to pay respects, love our families and salute the brave! I appreciate your post.

I was traveling at the time going to government contracting class when the first plane hit. At that time they made it sound like it was a small plane. Got to my class when a roar of a jet came across the building and a low whomp could be heard, everyone just stopped talking and then the NSA and other acronym governmental workers phones started to ring. It was then when all hell broke loose with fire truck and police sirens started to fly past our building. The NSA guy came back in the class and announced we were under attack and that we should immediately leave the area. The building we were in was two blocks away from the pentagon. Lost all cell service at that time so I couldn’t call my wife and traffic was jammed packed. People were driving onto sidewalks to get around stalled vehicles. The usual 2 hour commute turned into 5 1/2 hour drive. Got home to a wife who was a wreck and after I got her settled down I went out for a 3 mile run just to get things straightened in my mind. Terrible day, and day I wished I was still in the service to get my pound of flesh. To all those hero’s who made the ultimate sacrifice, those wounded, those who served in all of our military services, fire departments and the members in blue, I salute you.

 

I worked for university hospital EMS in Newark nj at the time. I was off that day and got a recall phone call right after the 2nd plane. I got to work and checked in with the chief who assigned me to a task force sent to Penn Station Newark because the few remaining trains that were still moving were bringing people covered in dust from lower Manhattan. We set up a triage area and transit police had locked the east doors so everyone would have to exit through the west doors and come through triage. Things were going smooth until a fuel tanker pulled up and the driver ran towards the door. I'm not sure how he wasn't shot but everything went south from there. Police yelled bomb and we ran to the east doors. Turns out the guy was lost due to the road closures. I truly thought that truck would explode. During the next 2 days I spent 12hr shifts at the pile. Knew a few people that were missing and later found dead. A life changing experience to say the least.

 

If there was one good thing that came from that day was the understanding of counrty everyone shared. The common feeling that if we stood together no matter political affiliation, color, creed, or religion we would preserve. It's what helped me get through.

Miss the feeling of that

 

So much truth in this post. Sorry to sound like an AA meeting but thanks for the share.
