They don’t transport well…the best will always be as close to ripe as possible before picking. Cherries also don’t transport well.

Not YOUR banana - - that's going on my ammo cabinet. But a banana from Kroger that says Guatemala - I guess I'm presuming they're routing through Galveston...

    Hey guys,
    just a thought...

Some of us live hundreds of miles away from our relatives and can't be with them on Labor Day.
    Please don't be jealous.

That brings up a good point. How many banana boats are lost in the transportation process?

If you mean a figurative 'banana', looks like $54M. Whatever happened to that banana blight that was supposed to have ended all banana production last year? Did the pandemic save bananas?

Peach pie is good but I prefer cobbler. My daughter makes it for my birthday in lieu of a pie or a bday cake. My birthday is in March so it has to be canned peaches. But still good.

One year she grabbed the green food coloring bottle instead of the vanilla. It was really green, but close enough to St. Patrick's day that I liked it.

I 100% agree with cobbler over pie. We usually buy a big box of peaches in GA and cobbler is the first thing the wife makes.

I meant literal banana since putting them on a boat is risky business. But I had no idea that many containers were lost overboard. We've had a few incidents here. The biggest I remember was15 or 20. That was in port and was a crane operator's error.

Can't find a quick answer on shipping losses. Looks like its perishability and other factors make its availability fluctuate wildly. Should probably read a couple of the articles I found - looks like an interesting business problem, solved by shady business practices...

PNW is no slouch in it's fruit department. It may not be as good from somewhere else, but we got some good stuff.

Marionberry pie is my favorite. Lots of them around here.
