Yeah, my bill is not high because I have two units. It is high because we hold 70 degrees 24 hours a day. My little condo bill was cheaper, but it was better insulated. The last house was about the same with one unit, but it ran all the darn time.

what little i know... higher seer, short run time harder draw. so to me it makes sense, but I am still trying to find an HVAC guy to explain to me wtf is going on at this house and potentially making a few changes.

Higher seer should net shorter run time and lower amp draw; usually 2 stages of cooling and heating, but it only ramps to the second stage if set point isn’t being met in a certain time frame. 2nd stage is 100% power, so starting it on 1st stage is also much gentler on the compressors

I feel like a bougie power hog all of a sudden. I keep it at 72 or 3 during the day (I work from home), but we drop it down to 68 at night. When the A/C is running 90% of the night on 71, but 92% of the night on 68, I don't get why the extra $3 should matter.

Car flex is 100% code out here, and it amazes me. My sparky buddy says that’s a lot of his calls, replacing rotted flex with….. more flex!

I hate carflex. I'll use sealtight all day long. But yeah, it dies in the sun like everything else. Just hard pipe it with EMT. Fuuuuuck iiiiiiit.

Is sealtight different from car flex? They both don’t last long out here

Sealtight is flex with a weatherproof coating, carflex is just the hard ass can't push wire in it flexible PVC. Sealtight is usually light gray with steel connectors, carflex is dark gray with plastic connectors.

Damn... We're on the SRP plan where they average your bill over 12 months based on last year's usage. Been running about $175mo (2 AC's - 2900sq' - pool - just us 2).

For us it's the other utilities that have increased significantly. Gilbert almost doubled the rates for water/sewer/trash earlier this year.

Insult to injury, zapped myself yesterday with 220 cleaning up around the pool pump. I’m not sure what kind of yelp I let out but Josh was concerned.
