My years in Scouts were pretty much spent terrorizing the neighborhood and slipping out of campsites looking for girls. I'm pretty positive 99% of the guys I was in Scouts with either ended up serving time in the clink, in the military, in the military to stay out of the clink, or a combination of all 3. We were a rough group. We had way too much fun.

I told the wife I'd rather put our daughter into Scouts than Guides. She is into crafts but she's also into camping and the outdoors. And she has energy to spare.

I mean, it's no longer the Boy Scouts anyways so she'd be more than welcome to join them.

That’s a bummer then. I’d try to find him another troop if you can. The scout master (and assistant scout masters - we had some really good ones too) really determine how good/bad the experience is. Like I said, our scout master was awesome. He used away just a couple of years ago, but had been a scout leader for over 40 years when he finally retired from it.

    Derp
    Just saw this
He’s still a Cub Scout. And you’re one of the den leaders. Sounds like you’ve got a decent plan for next year.

I remember in Cub scouts there were still a lot of kids that didn’t know the difference between boogers and paper paste (and they ate both). My mom was our den leader from tiger cubs up till we got into Webelos. My dad ended up taking over our Webelos pack until we made it to boot scouts (me and two of my good friends growing up). Then the one friend dropped out and moved away and the other was LDS and they had their own separate troop in town (I grew up out in the sticks) and so he had to go be part of that troop then.
I know my parents put a lot of work into making those earlier years good so that my brother and I would stick with it. They were both homesteader outdoors/ hunter/ fisher/ hard working so they installed that into the group. And then when we went in to boy scouts, it was more of the same with a larger group (about 16 of us on average).

It was boys only when I did it around the same time, hence the name Boy Scouts. :notsure:The girls did Brownies or Girl Guides.

Young men grew up fast on the mean streets of Northern Michigan in the 80’s.

More like "Lower Upper Peninsula" - we were still considered trolls by the Yoopers (for living under the bridge that connected the two peninsulas and hillbillies by the Fudgies (who would do weekend vacations around where I lived and frequented all of the touristy candy shops). But we were street-smart hillbillies. We used to refer to ourselves as "Loopers."
