I’m within the standard that my therapist wants. See the surgeon next Friday and can hopefully lose the sling and be cleared to drive again.

Not something I ever thought would happen to me. I have played and worked hard my entire life of 61 years. The operation went well at least

I thought it was your hands that were having the problem. Or was that just the symptom?

    True this..:(
I'll be off at the end of the year for 3 to 4 months getting my shoulder replaced.
I'll get disability, but it's a 5th of my regular paycheck.
I suppose that is what savings is for...

So how long in the sling?
I've got this coming up, then next year do the other side..:eek2::cool:

My daughter is a PT assistant.
She says I need to start stretching and strengthening my shoulders now to make the recovery starting in October easier..

Really? It's only 20%? Is it work related? Workman's comp is at least 40% IIRC.

I can't blame it on work, I wish I could.
I could live on my workman's comp pay.

My condition is from age and the luck of genetic heredity..
Every joint I have has cartilage loss and issues.
It isn't just one incident that caused my injury..
Both shoulders and both knees need to be replaced before I retire.
I need it done on company insurance, I'm thinking one joint a year for the next 4 years...

Did they end up doing nerve block prior to putting you out for the surgery??? My FIL just had a shoulder replacement and that's what he ended up having done?

That sucks. If you didn't have to use the savings for living expenses you could have blown it all on hookers and blow. Would've been a hell of a lot more fun.

Whether or not it'll be more fun will depend entirely on how good the meds are and how hot/slutty the nurses are. He might be getting his money's worth. ;)

The nerve bundle from C6 C7 vertebrae go to the middle and ring finger and that area was severely impinged and was calcified. That is how it started

Listen to your daughter. Last Monday was my 8th operation and each one I have worked the muscles like crazy before the operation. Much easier recovery.

You have a long road ahead, good luck brother you got this!!

I am not complaining, I had a visit from a very sexy Vampire in the middle of the night. She was quick, never felt the needle and then when I asked about her red outfit she OPENED UP!!!

6-7 weeks in the sling, sleep sittin up in a recliner, but I have an adjustable bed, so I missed out on that. Therapist told me today I could go without sling at home, but to still wear it in public to support it if I get bumped in a crowd.

my job has no light duty, so I won’t be going g back to work until August/September

Yes I got a nerve block, it worked for.about 24 hours. Key is to.stay on top of.pain meds,.you can never.catch up to pain. I was off the oxy by day 6. Still have plenty left, but I don't play with opiates.

I think they limit the amount of sponge baths you can get in one day. :(

Depends on how dirty you are. He can make it happen if he "mud" bogs first. :mudding:
