    I posted this in the cam leak thread, but I'd like input from my 'friends' here.

    So I had some maintenance stuff done today and got the cam leak news.
    I never saw oil on the ground I guess because of my skid plate and cat shields.

    $5k seems a bit steep. If it were me (same year5.7) I would:

    A. Watch it for a while/check oil level fairly often/ clean off if needed.
    B. Look for a well known and trusted independent Toyota shop.

    I keep saying I'm keeping my 2014 for another 100K miles.
    Quite a shock to hear today that I have the dreaded cam tower leak with a $5k repair.
    They've been telling me it is seeping the last couple of oil changes.

    That said, I walked the lot waiting for the wife to pick me up today at the dealer.
    I can't stand the silver or chrome grille mustache of the Gen 3s.
    Can't stand the Gen 3 issues either, but they've seemed calm as the newer 2024 year models come.

    I walked upon a 4X4 Nightshade Blueprint Limited Hybrid..:eek2:
    Most of the trucks they had on the lot were hybrids, most were Limiteds.
    A few Sr5s, a few platinums and 1974s ($80K+ with chrome shit).

    If I had an extra $70K lying around I would have bought it.
    Even the wife liked it..
    I don't even like black trucks...:oops:

    It looks black but with hints of blue in the sun and I'd guess lights at night.
    It was also very dirty..
    I did like the Nightshade trim though..:cool:

    Although I love my 2014 DC, the Gen 3 DC looks like an access cab.
    When I do buy a Gen 3, it will be a crewmax.

    What surprised me about looking at Gen 3s;
    Not a single salesman came out to greet me as I walked through the lot of Tundras.
    Even after the wife showed up to pick me up, I had her walk with me to see what she liked.
    After a good 30 minutes of walking the lot, not 1 salesman came out...
    I guess they don't want to sell them..:confused::cool:
