I have zero tolerance for that. 3 year working the retail and being beaten over the head with every terrible commercial pop Christmas song there is for 3 months pretty much killed most secular Christmas music for me.

 

Naw... It's official once Santa appears at the end of Macy's Turkey Day parade. Then, and only then, can one call it the Christmas season.

 

Agree to disagree. Retail broke me of just about everything commercial about Christmas. I avoid it all after my retail days.

 

We have a radio station here that plays Christmas music non stop between November 12th and December 27th so naturally my wife has to listen to it as much as possible. If you're lucky, they might play one actual carol a day. The rest is obnoxious secular crap.

 

That'd be grounds for a gift of earbuds and showing her how to tune in a radio station on her phone.

 

I'm off this week.
After that, it is peak season at work, and working 70-hour weeks (instead of the 63-hour weeks I work now)..
I won't have time to put up Xmas lights..

Christmas stuff stays put away until my wife threatens me with violence. I can usually keep it put away until the 2nd week of December. If I had my way we’d be Jehovahs just for the Holidays….that includes Thanksgiving too

 

If everyone waited until December, or at least until black friday, Xmas would keep it's magic. Months of anything will dwindle the excitement. I have no idea how people in retail don't snap, postal style. I go to pick up materials for work at a Home Deez once, sometimes twice a day. Just in those half hour visits alone, I reach full capacity. I guess eventually they must get numb to it or focus it out, like the psychopaths that drive around with their seatbelt warning chiming over, and over, and over again....and they don't even hear it anymore.

Lights on the house and landscape started last weekend with our sons help and I was busy out in the shop today "creating" wooden pieces my

"Lil Artist" will make come to "Life"....

Golf cart "Mods" have started for when the Grandbabies arrive including a "New Flag"....

Mafia will be hanging from the eaves till New Year starts..

 

When I was working in retail at Dicks sporting goods, the sound system for the store was in the footwear department. It was in a metal box with a key for the door, that I assume the store manager was supposed to keep, but it was always in the lock. After the first week of Christmas music in October, I had had enough. I took the CD that had Domenick the Donkey and put it on repeat, then broke the key off in the lock. After about 2 hours, the cut the power to the sound system. They never fixed it until after Christmas, and none of my co workers ratted on me

 

We absolutely refuse to put up Christmas deco till after Thanksgiving, usually the first weekend in December when all of her daughters are available. They’re all about it, my task is to pick things up and put them down, and to reach what they can’t.

Wife had me busy this weekend putting up lights, wreaths, swags, playing Christmas music. She also started baking cookies, which my waistline is already feeling the effects. Don’t mind it, besides seeing the grand babies eyes light up to the magic is well worth it. Tis the season.

Thanks guys! Planning on an easy day. Wife caved in and bought me a big ass LG Sound bar and it's awesome but I think there's some wifi interference happening with it so I'm gonna try to figure that out. Wife and daughter are taking me out to steak dinner tonight and I'm really hoping it's not code for "dumping my body in the river"... If it is, I'm hoping there's still steak involved.

Other than that, I'm just going to try to get some stuff done around here. Gotta ease into 51 though, I don't want to break a hip right of the bat.
