I'd say you're on the right track for what I call the Basic Bitch Burger, just lose the tomatoes. Vile things. There's so many styles of burgers though that it's impossible to officially declare official ingredients. Unlike grilled cheese, in which there is bread, butter and cheese.

Last really awesome burger I had was smothered in bacon jam, but it also had candied jalapenos in it. That was piled on a scoop of pimento cheese, burger, then a bottom bun drizzled with honey. Shoulda grabbed a pic.
